So, i was thinking if maybe they will have some sort of killer metal or something when you get to the end of the campaign to make it seem as if it was more hardcore and important (not saying the rest arnt) or something. What do yall think?

Hi

It seems the ingame music for ETQW is made by Bill Brown, according to the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0113119/) and Bill's own webb site (http://www.billbrownmusic.com/credits.htm).

I found this classic music (http://www.billbrownmusic.com/soundBB/RTCW_Main_Screen_BB.mp3) from Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Bill's web site.

I hope they make the music the same way they made W:ET sounds. I don't know if it's intentional, but weapon sounds in W:ET aren't very noisy/juicy. Some people don't like that, but after hours of playing you realise it's easy on your ears. That's why I hope the music is some kind of ambient or something. Some music is good once in a while, other is nothing spectacular but you can listen to it for hours. If the music can't be listened to for hours, I will simply turn it off.

An example how a weapon shouldn't sound in multiplayer: Half-life 1 machinegun. At first it's very cool and it sounds like knockback is going to break your arm or something, but later it's just tiring.

I think the in-game music should only be at the end of the match. Either defeat music or Victory music. Neither should be rock and roll. It should sound like what it does in war movies.

Very good find!!! I like the feel of the menu music you linked, seems like it would fit well with ET:QW. It is subtle but with a very definate "war feel" to it. Sounds like Bill Brown knows what he is doing!

i will have my own selection playin in the background.
maybe some movie-soundtrack, maybe some creepy drone-sounds,
maybe some punk-metal (converge), will see in what mood i am.
i just don't give a damn about ingame music cause it sucks most of the
time (worse than hollywood-orchestra-masturbation) and this
fake metal they use in shooters is pissin me off.

DDT

I reckon some good ol' Mnemic for the TRUE hardcore touch.

Maybe the their song 'Deathbox' should play every time an air strike comes in :D! Now that would be some kick ass atmosphere!

Sonic Mayhem just like in Quake 2, maybe it'll be possible for someone to mod it into their server.

hmmm, did'nt trent reznor do the sfx in the first quake? or was it the music? so would'nt it be fitting for NIN to do the music :)

I'm generally on Teamspeak when I play these games, so have music off, and most sounds turned right down. always a pain when somebody is trying to say something when you are in the middle of an arty attack.

'I'm just a strogg machine feeding my stroy gun'
only have music at the end..could be distracting in game and might lead to a sneak de fib death..not cool

Or listening to Double Cleff FM from GTA3.

It was on the interviews about two weeks ago.
And you know what?
Say "Bill Brown" - think "Rainbow Six".
It`s freaking awesome.

Only Frank Klepacki could be better.

NO music here when playing. Some low volume very slight in the back ground music of the 80's. Some phil collins, duran duran, quiet riot.... LOL Or some good old megadeth and metallica would be just fine. LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR......

Rap music boys. Every time I turn up any music that gets me pumped up for the game, and I do feel pumped to frag a lot of soldiers, my kill/death ration ends up being 0/200.

i agree with you there, and rap music imo doesn't belong in war games. metal always seems to be the best for some reason.

That's such a subjective statement. Both rap and metal - which I guess you could say are on opposite ends of the listening spectrum - are too polarizing and don't really do well in a video game (unless the game is something like GTA and is supposed to be representative of some type of culture, in which case you want a specific type of music). QW is not such a game. There will probably be victory/defeat music, and if there's any music during the fighting it will have to be something relatively mundane and minimalistic so it appeals to a wide audience and doesn't annoy people.

No epic stuff, and no easy military tunes and such(BF 2142 Intro, BF 2142 Victory screen)...

EBM, Industrial, Noise, dark/electro influenced stuff...!! *Begs*

And loud weapon sounds!! Oh oh oh and uhmm give it proper sounds when in vehicles!! Especially the Strogg ones should sound very cool.

some hardcore metal while your pummeling the foreigners (stroggs) brains out.

i could only dream of atreyu been in it =]

something like linkin park "given up" would go down well as menu music but other then that, they typical crappy game music suits in game. bahaha

Would be cool to have some battle music, other than that you hear footsteps and rounds popping off, it keeps you in "The mood" :D
