So I'm playing Strogg for a change, duly deploy my AVT near the checkpoint and then go around spreading random mines before the GDF arrive. Admittedly I wasn't checking my radar (actually, come to think of it, our cov ops guys were too busy setting up sniper positions and we didn't have a radar...)
when suddenly the MCP comes bouncing over the bloody wall!
Seriously, it looked awesome.
Of course the AVT took it out and the GDF had to get a new MCP, but just the same - an awesome gutsy move that showed there is PLENTY of scope to do WHATEVER you want in ET:QW.

Iv seen this done a few times. I was pretty shocked the first time but now I use this way all the time for the simple fact that nobody expects it.

I love it when people try new stuff like that. I tried to get the MCP trough the water in Valley, though that one failed.

You can go over the hill on outskirts too...strogg doesn't expect that.

I might regret saying this but If Im GDF on Refinery and manage to drive the MCP I do it everytime. Probably captured the spot 20+ times this way only got busted three times and its generally by a Pro-pilot. Curse you DomMafia. So if your strogg for the love of god put a defense turret over there to guard against it. Generally itll be wasted since most people think the shortest route is the best route and end up bogged down on the MCP repair portion of the map for 20 minutes. But if Im GDF bet your ass Im comming for the back door!!!
There are two alternative routes for the MCP in Valley as well but man you gotta move the MCP fast or its nothing but a wall of AVT turrets and a Tormentor so its generally worthelss.

I saw an mcp come over the wall the other day too, I'd seen it before but not in awhile. Really caught me by surprise because I was planing mines as well waiting for the mcp to show up and then all of the sudden there it is, not where you were expecting it and almost home. We killed it though.
I've seen this once as GDF, next time I played as Strogg I was sure to place turret in back on top of wall at an angle so it hits both normal route and alt. I was hoping for the ALT just so I could make somebodys day a little worse, cause I'd guess they would never expect a turret there. :D

Two alternative routes?
There's the main route of through the tunnel... And the alternative route of around the side of the tunnel-hill... Where's the second alternative route? Over the hill? I would've thought the path up was way too narrow for the MCP. :P

hes gotta be talking about not taking the bridge at all, and pulling it to either side of the bridge in the valley towards the access tunnel (GDF's right) or to the River side, (gdf left)
then up and either into the tunnel, or around it, which is highly dubious.
I defy you to ever get mcp on the top of that hill before the 30 seconds calls for a new one.
i'd have to see it to believe it

Indeed, I can't see a real point to taking either of those detours. Bridge is faster and leaves you significantly less exposed by getting into the tunnel asap. The around-the-hill method is largely used for surprise and to bypass the turrets deployed along the main route.
And yeah, even if getting up onto the hill were viable, it probably takes too long to manage anyhow...

I take it when you say bridge you mean tunnel as you dont even get a MCP if you dont build the bridge.
