You can deploy 2 shields back to back on the ground when would protect you from 360 degrees. As in, lay one shield down, turn 180 degrees, and put another one down.

Some people say its possible to survive artillery this way, but I do not know if thats true.

It is possible to survive a Hammer missle with the back to back tactical shield. I don't think it would work for the repeated shelling of artillary, nor the multiple hits of the rocket artillary. But i found that just firing at my feet, then turning around and firing again doesnt work. I have to turn around then take a couple steps backwards for the shields to provide complete cover.

Sure, you will end up with a big gap between the two half spheres, if you only rotate 180 degree between deploying them, and do not move.

Not that suprising. You can also try to put a shield over Icarius and you are bullet-proof. Or on a tormentor, but I think you can't use missiles then. Or shoot with hiperblaster.

A few players doing this with a single Hog can easily be a Titan's worst nightmare... 4-6 shields layered on the front of a Hog essentially makes it immune from several Tank Gun shots.

I used to do it a lot on beta 1 but much lesser now.

you can also place the shields on wheels and they'll spin around. they can also be placed just as a vehicle hits and it'll stall the vehicle as if it was a wall for a fraction of a second... enough to jump out of the way though.

The Hog generates it's own "Ram-Shield" when you hit the speed boost button. Perhaps it was that you witnessed?

If it works with the icarus, he probably shouldn´t try to use his stroybombs then...

I think he is not that noob ;).
Putting two tactical shields in front of a hog is an excellent strategy, because with it you can take 1 full Titan tank shot head on without any damage to your hog and kill the Titan instead of the Titan killing you.
It is the only way to take out a good Titan driver from inside a hog if you can't sneak up on them and very effective as well.

Talking about shields on vehicles... it's funny when you glue them to legs or wheels, and start to move around. They go spinning. Well, that's funny, though not that useful, safe if you try to protect your teammates on the ground, and distract attention with your new halloween "suit".

Besides, have you tried to plant shields on a Titan so it couldn't fire anymore?

i once killed a GDF engineer with a grenade launcher by bunny hopping around him and making a 'bubble' of shields around his body.
the nades just bounced back and killed him.

i was then kicked for bunny hopping, i think he was an admin...

A (newbie) question about fields on vehicles : how do you put them ? If you put them while watching the vehicle from outside, they'll be reversed (I hope I'm clear I can't find the words in English to explain).
So how ? Jump on the vehicle roof ?

Yeah. Jump on a vehicle and fire shield on it.
By the way, it's not true that shield is only 180'. Try to fire shield on an edge of a building. I noticed this when I was defending entrance to Generator at Valley.

I have used the 'bubble' to protect myself and other peeps from Hammer Missile. It helped alot!

I'm not sure if it was mentioned before or not, but when you deploy a shiled you can see a small transparent globe right in center of the halfglobe. Try putting shiled on the wall and you can see it. So to make a perfect full globe put the shiled on the ground, then rotate 180 degrees and aim second halfglobe to the point where small globe on the ground is. With some practice this can be done pretty quickly.

I think that you may be able to anchor the shield to odd things with the small globe.

I've been told that if you put a shield in front of a GDF AVT or AIT, you "blind" it : you don't only prevent it from touching your vehicles or allies, it CAN'T DETECT THEM.
Can someone confirm that ?

Yep, but it's a double-edged sword. You can also by mistake disable your own AVT and APT. They just don't see through shields. But they see through smoke...

I can confirm the blinding of AVTs - pain in the ass on Island (first objective). GDF have to be fast and deploy mines.
The rocket launcher also gets blinded and you dont get a lock on shielded hogs (aiming at them from the protected side).

Another question for the shield masters :
following your advices, I'm now able to put shields on vehicles (excellent on hogs to use them as ram, potentially dangerous on tanks if you want to fire).

One thing I didn't manage to do is to put a shield on an icarus : each time, my shield stick on the ground behind the icarus but not on the vehicle itself. It kinda passes thru it without gluing on it...

Any advices ?

I tried to do this several times and now i think it is not possible to attach a shield to icarus.
