Cool, but he knew where the missile would hit, the opponent won´t have this luxury. I also heard of people who intercepted a hammer missile with an icarus. Would be cool to find a video for that.

I think SSM is mega-huge missile, it doesn't explode... But if it gets stopped, it will fire again. Maybe it will be possible for few people to constantly intercept SSM... who knows ;d

I don't think that would be possible, since an "engine script" runs that part of the game.

In early Beta2 there was an exploit found on valley where people would block the SSM with the tormentor. They fixed it now so I don't think you can stop an SSM.

That would be kind of cool if you could block it and the ssm would just refire. Not much different than disarming an HE charge, the enemy just has to keep trying. They'd have to make it really difficult to do so that every n00b that jumps on a server wouldn't be grinding the game to a halt.

Actually... It would require tormentor or Icarius. SSM's cannon is pretty high and only peps with flying vehicles can climb on it. That would mean 5 + amount of people with rank 1 in vehicles (because there are only 2 icariuses at strogg frontline spawn, 2 at base and one tormentor). I think it would be easier to just defend generator...

I tried that several times but it is not as easy as it looks in the video. It is more like a lucky shot than something you can really repeat over and over again.

Hammers can be intercepted by icarai though it's not easy.
Also the SSM is block proof it blows up anything in the of it's destination(i've seen what happens when a tormentor is in the wrong place at the wrong time.)

I think if you use anything to block a hammer, it explodes.

If you use anything to block an SSM from the MCP, I think it keeps on truckin until it hits the wall, or door, or whatever it is supposed to blow up.

I intercepted a rocket artillery barrage with the 'copter I was maneuvering on area 22 the other day by accident (obviously). Not recommended, you'll feel silly. :)

i just pulled this stunt off and survived! I saw the hammer being launched and got in the tormentor and flew at it, i jumped out about 5 seconds before impact and the tormentor went on to blow it up as i survived falling to the ground!

Yes I accidentally discoverd this in the beta when I was just flying around and got hit by a hammer 100 feet in the air LOL. Tried it again on purpose and it deffinatly works. It dosn't work on an SSM tho.. unfortunately :(

It's a nice trick to save a deplyable farm if there is not anti arty up tho :D

anything that can get in the air can block the missles. unfortunately for me this once included my titan, which i was jumping off a mountain onto the ship to stop the last energy cell from loading.... as my titan hit the cliff above the ship, boom......i know its not as good as a full on intercept in the air, but i had plenty of teamates around and they all survived claiming my jump/big falling drop stopped the massive tk from wiping the defense, which for the record stopped the cell on that attempt, and secured the win. =)

dark matter has nailed me in the BB and the anasi and never on purpose but i was a little relieved thats what happened, as they instant gibbed me in one of them, forget which, at 00 time on spawn, and i had no clue what happened, when i read the kill txt i laughed....then cried for the loss of my vehicle.

300 hours is a long time, wish i had some ss's to show you but all i have are screenshots of funny tricks, and stacked admins whoring on weak teams....

oh and i have some pics of good admin clans, to post sometime when i get enough, of who is worth playing with on their home server (which clan)

oh and the cliff is the one off to the left, mid air can be achieved if you gun it from the top mountain and hit the boost at the right time. course a couple of strogg corpses always help to get air off of (joke inserted!~) hahah

But still, it's very, VERY, VEEEERY hard to intercept Hammer/DMC with a RL/Obliberator. Today at the Valley I was standing on a hill and a Hammer was going to crash into a field full of APTs and AVTs. Guess what? I aimed a bit below and to the right, fired... And boom, Hammer got shot down just 2 seconds before it killed half of my team! I was thrilled... But it was impossible for me to stop 3 other hammers that someone fired...

I guess it's easier to disable Hammer Launcher than the missile.

That was a cool video, u gotta be a pretty good aim to do that, taking into account the speed of the DM cannon, the rocket projectile and predicting a point of colision.

Actually he was in the server alone on the warmup, he fired the round and then respawned quickly due to the warmup phase.

And you kind of go back on yourself lol

Few times I tried. I also got that *bip* sound, but it was just my artillery hitting someone. And I think that you can intercept Hammer/DMC only with RL/Obliberator or a vehicle (very funny thing to do - use a Icarius to intercept a Hammer that is about to hit a field full of vehicles).

And it's a cheat to spawn a lot of vehicles/turrets/other junk. Cheats are used usually in offline games.

Cool stuff, never thought of that either. If you don't know exactly where the missle is heading it's probably better to intercept it just a few meters above the ground. Definately a tough one, but worth trying if you are around with a RL or obliterator. Thumbs up to SD as well for making it possible ;-)

Bah! That's nothing! Why, just today I used the enhanced pliers to construct several MCPs. I was then able to stack them high enough to create a defense against the Strogg by intercepting their artillery, too.

I tried to record it but Fraps crashed.

You cant take out the hammer with a tank cannon, ive tried. I hit it but it didnt explode. For some reason the RL takes it out every time though.
