I have searched my way through the forums and A&Q, and i understand these floating points are bugs that need to reported? Atleast i'm looking for an answer

This error seems rather widespread, i had it , and a mate too, on the same server.
server problem ?

I had the exact same error while playing on outskirts only I also had this message in the console while it automatically disconnected:
WARNING: idSession: triggering mainmenu watchdog

Same problem here, sudden disconnect.
WARNING: Thread 'main': idPhysics_RigidBody::SetClipModel: unbalanced inertia

WARNING: Thread 'main': sdPredictionErrorDecay_Angles::Decay - Bad float!

EDIT:
I think it happend when i was getting into Tormentor on Ark, but the 1st time i recall was proably on map Island - i picked Technician and was strafe jumping.

Hello guys
can you as far as you can remember describe what you were doing (what team, class, location, etc.) and what was going around you as this issue occurred.
That would be very helpful :)

the ark - i was running around as gdf-engie with grenadelauncher near the generator (not destroyed). after the error & disconnect i succesfully reconnected via console-command "reconnect". xp & rewards were still there and i could play again without problems.

has already been reported, devs ask for a demo to trace it back. if you got one, please provide it :)

da Hawk
11-03-2007, 07:17 AM
yes... now i have played 2 hours at slipgate and the ark (it seems to me the error only happens there) and tryed to record a demo.

guess what... nothing happend.

greetings from upper austria :)

edit: is there a way to auto-record every game i play ?

Joe999

edit: is there a way to auto-record every game i play ?

not yet. there is the possibility to have a per-map autoexec, but that one's called before the map gets loaded, so putting recordnetdemo into it doesn't work.

Grak

Hiya Joe, instead of recording a demo would just doing a condump filename when it happens be helpful to the devs?

Joe999

i have no idea, i've read in the other threads that they ask for a demo. i think just post what you got and what you did at the time when this occured :)

ok, i have a demo

http://www.file-upload.net/download-474477/demo_00031.ndm.html
Description: map The Ark
First i was non GDF team, flying around with the anansi, then changed teams to play with my clanmates. i got the tormentor and was flying around for a few minutes shooting various things... then i killed a gdf soldier with the tormentor plasma cannon and then... floating point error...

i hope this helps to find the bug. :)

feedback from splashdamage would be nice....

ERROR: Bad floating point number in .\game\Player.cpp(5399): ( viewAngles ).pitch is NAN

If you receive this error, could you please describe what you were doing in-game and post a demo if you happened to be recording one at the time.

The error is being looked into and it would be good if all posts regarding the issue could be kept to this thread.

Demo of play at Outskirts few minutes ago: handing out ammo paks close to the disabled MCP (SNAFU, 60m SW of Cargo Compound: Ammo Packs Dropped) and boom! Added the condump because I played Valley just before this and noticed a Warning (again, deleted loading binary lines in the file because it was too big to upload here). BTW, since the console went fullscreen on me I did r_fullscreen 0 to get into windowed mode so I can just shut down ETQW without having to reboot the PC :)

Vista 64 - 8800 GTS 320MB - 163.75 drivers

Demo will follow.

Well, what did i do at the moment... I was repairing with a stroog constructor a psy-radar on "The Ark" at the 2nd respawn point where you have to construct the mining laser.
I was just repairing and then BANG console... but better this than having a complete freeze :p

Another Outskirts. http://files-upload.com/files/598855/demo_00006_mapshutdown_outskirts2.ndm

Correction on my last post getting out of fullscreen console: do vid_restart 1 first then r_fullscreen 0 to get out of rebooting.

Can I stop sending demos or the more the merrier? :p

For now just type "reconnect" into the console if you get dumped out with this error. We'll try to get this fixed in an upcoming patch - these demos should help to find the cause of the issue. Thanks again :)

ERROR: Bad floating point number in .\game\Player.cpp(5399): ( viewAngles ).pitch is NAN
We were 4 players waiting for more to join up, I was just standing in spawn without having moved. I was trying to enter something in global chat the moment it happened.

Sorry, no demo, didn't expect anything to happen that moment.
reconnect caused ETQW to crash.

Not sure if this is the same problem, floating point error but in a different place in code:

I have seen this problem a few times, mostly when an admin changes map - but today I think it also happened when an admin kicked the entire strogg team so he could hack the slipgate, I reconnected & there was 2 on strogg including me, but the gdf team was still full (7 players).

can you as far as you can remember describe what you were doing (what team, class, location, etc.) and what was going around you as this issue occurred.

I was just a spectator for about an hour. I come back and the server crashed with the same error as described "bad float point.....player.cpp". I had to restart the server.

Thank god I'm not the only one expericing this. This is so annoying.

There seems to be no pattern at all, to these errors. Just happens randomly. I could be a covert op on Slipgate or Constructor on Outskirts. It just happens. And it drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its getting worse

WARNING: Thread 'main': sdPredictionErrorDecay_Angles::Decay - Bad float!
WARNING: Thread 'main': sdPredictionErrorDecay_Origin::Decay - Bad float!
[edit]LOL,there are smileys hidden in the warnings!!

This one I see all the time:
WARNING: Thread 'main': sdRepairDrone::Spawn Couldn't find water Damage Type ''
These are just a few of many warnings in the console.log.
Can play for 30min orso and then ill get the fullscreen console
Reconnecting worked for awhile, now it just chrashes.

mmm programming rule 1: Always initialize variables! referencing unitialized variable give very nasty bugs, hard to track down!

Lol have I hit the point?
