Many users are reporting that typing too quickly into the text chat box results in the chat becoming incoherent.
This is a known issue that will be resolved in the next patch.

I found that switching the game to Windowed mode fixed my problem...

Haha! I thought I was just drunker then I thought when this happened to me. It was putting stuff I typed first after things I'd typed second. I was quite confused how I had managed to mangle what I meant to say that badly :P

Hah... I was wondering if anyone else noticed how aggrivating chatting is on ETQW. Great to know that it's being addressed. It's also great to know that the incredible number of typo's were not my fault! hehe

the cursor selects the last letter if u type too fast and that way u overwrite ur last letters, somehow did happen to me also in a forum and another game.

This bug is getting the best of me. Makes me want to kill a puppy sometimes, it creates so much hate inside my brainnn!

I found that problem 2
Btw, i noticed it was happening much more when typing shift and at end of words, and only from v 1.2
It sounds like the game thinks you type 2 keys at the same time and keeps the last one only.

It can get even better; try typing (slowly) with your HUD off - though obviously, you'd never have it off ingame. Hence it's not much of an issue, just funny; the text will appear backwards.
On another note, can we go back to not having to hit space after every quotation mark?

Yeah, it's really frustrating, and it happens to me a lot since my rig isn't capable enough to run this game at a constant framerate. So the lagometer goes yellow or red and that's ofcourse always when I'm typing or dying...

I'm using a QX6700 and 8800GTX and I have this problem as well. that looks slow to you?
just heard it from more people.
when there are more then 16 players connect to server it slows down.
and then the garbled text happends.
i tested it with the bots.
first with 4 vs4, and typed fast, nothing happens
then with 10 vs 10, and then i got the text prob.
maybe it has nothing to do with the pc speed.
dunno?.

Whew I'm glad to see it wasn't just me either. A friend of mine and I were always complaining that the typing in QW sucked, because we found it strange that we were able to type fine through any other medium.
