I know your great site since the beta 1, but the answer lacks some information.
Is it 50% of all damage? No matter where you were hit?

Apparently it is all damage unlike wolf ET's explosive damage only.

Even damage against the head and the neck? Or just damage against the torso (and maybe the neck)?

I'm pretty sure it's everywhere. Its obvious, the difference the flak jacket makes when nailing a guy in the head 8 times and he still doesn't cave. Very cool! Er... irritating.

Thanx for your replies, I always wanted to know it exactly. But when it protects everywhere, why did they not call it "enhanced armor" or something, insted of "flak jacket"? Because of the tradition? And only 50% damage everywhere seems a little strong though, only to the torso would have made more sense imo, and equal the +25 hp - bonus of the strogg more. But of course its asymmetric balance, and theres also the health bonus of the gdf medics and the stroyent shifting of the strogg.

im not sure its 50%. After all it would mean a gdf flacked guy has more than 200 real hp. From what ive seen it reduces damage by 10% or so. OR maybe the flack jacket wears off after some fixed amount of damage dealt.

I've gotten the flak jacket a bunch of times, and I've never noticed anything substantial.

Huh, flak would suggest something like area damage I suppose.
You may be able to run through a rain of explosives and grenades and survive longer.

A SD dev posted on it in another thread before. It reduces overall damage by 10%, on all hitzones.

I notice I survive mines more often with the flak jacket. The difference is hard to notice unless you're looking for it.

Wrong. You just copied stuff from W:ET without checking.
It reduces ALL damage dealt to you by 10% . This includes headshots, as one of SD people said. I can't find the thread right now, I'll do it when I get back home.

50% sounds indeed a little much. Another question, does this mean that headshots make 190% damage or 180% damage against a flak jacket? I mean, count the -10% toward the effective damage of weapons or toward their basic damage?

That sounds the most logical, where did you get the information from? Does it include the neck area (as the shoulders are a part of it too)?

In this thread you can see a developer confirming that flak jacket simply reduces damage by 10% , and that includes headshots.
