Hey guys,

Im not going to ask you when the demo is comming out or anything like that. I just want you to know. With every game i buy, i play the demo first. And i noticed when i have a problem with the demo, the game has the SAME problem.

So when the Quake Wars demo comes out if you have a problem with it post it up here so that the moderaters can report it and they can check to see if the game has a similar problem. Right now the closed beta testers are working hard to find exploits but they wont get them all.

So when the demo comes out if you have a crashing error or something report it so they can fix it in the game as well and release an even less buggy game. This would make things alot easier on everyone. Same goes for bugs or exploits, If you find them in the demo report them please.

Once demo is out it would be hard to change anything in the game at that point of time.
They me fix it later with patch......

At least it would give them a head start on the patch and it would be released sooner. Instead of hearing about this problem on release date and making people wait longer, it's better to announce it on demo release.

As far as i know there is an open beta coming up. so that will be your chance of reporting glitches and bugs.

I wouldnt expect to see an open beta until optimisation has been done, to my knowledge that stage hasnt arrived as yet, this is high speculation of course, but generally, most developers will do their beta tests then optimise and then release an open demo, you generally dont release an open demo until optimisation has been done or you risk people being turned off from the game as it ran poorly for them, many people wont release or understand the demo at that stage isnt the finished product, so most developers will only do a open demo once optimisation has been finalised.

This is also why the open demo is generally the same product that goes gold as its essentially done, the demo is only released to spark interest to boost sales of what was already a finished product.

I wonder what level the BETA has

I would't mind the "Valley" mission in the training videos...

LoL nice PC quaker!

At this stage I'd say it would be almost guaranteed that the demo will feature the valley map.

I'm not so sure they'll have another beta run...they've already gone through: Pro-league q3 / q4 gamers Registered Clanners Individual beta testers
That might be the last thing before the demo is released!

Demos are usually released at the same time or after the initial release of the game so the issues will obviously be apparent in both versions, however that means it will once again come down to a patch :(

Lets hope they put the yard yards in and get it right in the first place unlike other titles (which it appears they are )

I had problems with the demos of BF2 and BF2142 (wouldn't run) but had no problems with the full versions.

From my experience not just with BF games but others as well the demos are a lot less stable than the release.

Is the demo confirmed?

The other question in mind is how big the demo is going to be?

Especially since it has to be bundled with at least a map that has a very large MegaTexture file.

i liked the old gaming days when a demo came out a month in advance!!!

and as for how big is the demo going to be, i think the average of us on this board should be able to download a gig in an hour... with that said for the love of god to not torrent the demo, torrent sucks just ftp it like normal PLEASE. ( this comes from a linux user who understand torrents reason and why it should not be used in a 99% leech senerio, example a demo or new distro release )

Demo != Public Beta...

If there are bugs in it, they'll fix them in a patch of course, but I suspect they will be releasing the game and the beta very close together, demo being the "free preview" of the game you can try before you buy it...

rofl whats your source 0.o

lots of people say stuff of open beta while SD said somewhere that they'll release after they're done testing with closed beta and fixed and balanced and did whatever else they needed to do.

anyway also heard demo is gonna be released about same as game release... though there will probably be people playing the demo first reported problems then would speed patches up as you said JiggaJigga

Man, since the game won't come out in June or July, I now wish the demo would come out 2 months before release, which isn't going to happen. I heard the game is extremely broken that it almost feels like the development went backwards in progress. I freaking want to play the game in June, not any time after that. I have summer classes then.

I heard it from a guy, that onelegout guy in the totse forums. Just check out the Flaky beta testers thread in totalquakewars forums, then find the link with the word totse in it.

1 person has hearsay stuff that a BF clan didn't want to test, all of a sudden the game is fully borked.

I've always had the opposite. If I play a demo and it runs good the game runs terrible for me when I buy the full version. Yet I turn around and play a bad demo and the game turns out good. Case and point, the BF2142 beta/demo I played with alot of graphical bugs and it was just very glitchy, yet now I have the full version and it plays very smooth and very well.

Ghost Recon AW the demo play'd very smooth and I thought I'd love the game, turns out the full version that I bought didn't run very well and I just gave it to a friend.

When a Demo is released the game is at the end of it's development for the most part, from what I know, and when a demo is released unless it's a major error/glitch/crashing problem then it won't be fixed till the first patch. Which with how large I believe this game will be I'm sure the patch cycle will be good. Unlike CoD2 lol..

Yep, i was a Beta tester for 2142 also, and there was a BIG difference between Beta and the final retail version... It play very well, i only get bored by this modernized " Got to pay " Mod of the BF2 version...lol

See ya

My problem with demos:

The demos always run superb. The demos always make me want more, and they never give me problems.

When I get the full game, the game is nothing like the demo and there are problems that the demo did not have.

Sux to be me.

demo makes me upgrade, full version comes out optimized enough to run on old gear, Nail cries over lost beer

maybe it'll be like bf2 where the demo was the best version of the game

most demo's turn out better for me then the full game... except if they're really big demo's like the one from UT2004... when I got UT2004 I found a huge load of maps like for assault>normal/racing/trials(trickjump for ut2004) and more gametypes more fun maps and even mixed gametypes.

but most games got like one map and 1 or 2 gamemodes and then most of the bugs dont show then and when u get the full game the online mode turns out deserted and/or the game is heavily bugged and not fun.
