Just wondering what most people do. I've used both and can't decide which is best.

I hold it, its not good feeling when you have sprint on and you enter a tormentor :)

You can add a poll if you want. ;)

I just hold it

I'm so used to holding it down, I even do it in games that have no sprint key... (like WoW or TF2)

Hold it, better control

Hold it. In beta it was ,,fire and forget'', but it was just... strange. I mean I couldn't glide with my Icarus, but now I can jump into the ship on Quarry from 30-50 meters, fire a stroyent grenade and ,,plant'' a Power Cell. It's a nice strategy, btw.

I never bothered to make a thread about it, but I will use this thread to say that I want the ability to do both.

I prefer to hold it most of the time, but there are certain circumstances when I want it to be toggled (driving in a tank, or running for long periods while using context menu, or hitting other binds).

What I really wanted was both. Bind one key to be "hold for sprint" and bind another to toggle sprint on and off. There is currently no way to do this using only in-game binds. I have accomplished it through some programatic macros I banged out (as I have with several things), but native support would be better.

Hold it. I tend to despise toggling behavior, and I wish ironsights/scopes/grenade launcher had an option(separate for each preferably) to be controlled via holding instead of toggling, too.

Hold. Toggle sprint also makes flying and driving... interesting.

I toggle it. It takes practice but for long range travel, especially with vehicles, its worth it. I usually toggle it off when close to enemies, so I don't have an issue with it breaking ironsights or whatever.

I wish you could specify the toggle option depending on context.

For me, I hold it, but I would like to:
1. Hold for travelling on foot.
2. Toggle for land and water vehicles.
3. Hold for air vehicles.

God yes. I would use hold for infantry but with vehicles, holding it is unbearable.

Toggle.
I use sprint all the time, except the first second in fliers.

its a pity that "context" features cant be not only to binds but to cvars as well. Hold is better, better control, assigned toggling's only advantage are long distances run, when not endangered with enemies popping out.

Yes, toggle here as well. I used to hold it a lot, but it frees up a finger now to just toggle it.

Wsh you chould toggle for ground vehicles and hold for everything else since for some reason if I hold SHIFT+W+A the A doesn't register (and, very oddly, D does), so I have to drop the boost if I want to turn left.

Toggle! Used to hold it, but I got fed up of holding it. Takes a little while getting used to (especially in aircrafts and icaruses), but things are much better now. :)

I think you can do it ingame, with context. Just bind your "hold to sprint" key normally for a "default" context, and depending on if there's a toggle_spring function already, use it in a context of vehicles, and if not, create a two-lines long script with the same context, with the vstr command.

No?

I cannot believe some people want it a toggle. To me that's like setting your car on cruise control. :S

I don't really get what you mean. Code would be good if you think this can be done :)

The toggle_sprint function doesn't actually toggle sprint, it makes it so when you actually HIT sprint, it toggles sprint. You also can't chain the toggle and the sprint together in one bind, because sprint is an underscore bind (_sprint).

My macro does just that; the toggle is bound to a key, and the macro chains the toggle and the sprint command together. But it can't be done in-game.

i use toggle because it hurts my hands too much to hold it down all the time. since this game has unlimited sprint i keep it toggled on.

i'm mostly infantry and ground vehicles so i have no issues keeping it on. when i need precision for weapons i'm typically scoped or crouching so sprint doesn't come into play.

I used to think toggle was a great idea because there's no real penalty for running everywhere and somewhere along the line they decided to let you sprint forever even if you start breathing hard (probably when it used to timeout).

So, I had sprint on all the time but I realized when I tried to sprint around while using the weapon zoom it broke the zoom and really messed up my firefights. I could never quite get used to flying the Icarus with the toggle either.

Hold it down ftw. :D

I'm using toggle in infantery and land vehicles but hold for flyers. ;)
