When I say "quit", I mean quit, not "roll credits". How do I disable those and actually exit the game on command?

quit in the console, or

bind x quit

Ok maybe something harder to hit by accident than x ;)

or alt f4 quits automatically

Right. ;)
I use :
bind "Q" "quit" "CTRL" "default"
bind "S" "disconnect" "CTRL" "default"

I just click on the screen at the end and it goes away

bind "F8" "exit" "" "default"

By pressing F8 the game exits straight to windows, just replace F8 with whatever key you want

I would like a way to just turn them off, certainly, just as I don't want the intro movie to play every time.

Right. ;)
I use :
bind "Q" "quit" "CTRL" "default"
bind "S" "disconnect" "CTRL" "default"

These binds are nice though, I think I will add something like them to my cfg :) Thanks.

Yeah, a simple cvar to turn the intro movie and credits off would be appreciated.

Firefly ftw...

Back on topic... ctrl Q and ctrl S doesn't sound good. I'd be disconnecting when i move backwards while crouching and quitting when leaning and crouching.

Surely the credits aren't that hard to deal with. If you click they disappear. How hard is it to double click on the quit button.

Browncoat all the way.

Fairly irrelevant. If I want to leave the game I don't want to wait for the credits to load and then click it like some sort've demo, I want to click once and be done with it. Implementing a bypass cvar for them is a trivial task.
Same principle as having to wait for the intro movie to load and then hit esc to bypass it. I don't want to. :P

I am confused why don't you just bind a key to "exit"? I have always bond my F7 to "kill" and F8 to "exit" or "quit" in all quake games, i would never dream of having to click on a disconnect button. One button and I am back to my desktop. simple yes?

Accidental keypresses ingame that completely take you out of the game suck lots. :P

I use alt-F4.

I don't see why people here are going through so much trouble to find a solution for a non-problem.

§ q tab enter

~ q tab enter if you got american keyboard

q tab = the same as writing quit

On my keyboard § tab and q are just next to eachother.
Left hand: § tab q
Right hand: enter

With practise this takes 1 second.

And with a bind, it's take only 0.5 seconde^^

So why not use a bind ? (or alt+F4 )

Wait! You can cancel the credits?! Oh, thank you, lord Jesus! Thank you!
