Trip mines?

Sorry for noob question.

How do I lay 'trip mines'? I've logged many hours as an Enginneer, and I can do proximity mines easily enough, but I've never laid mines with the green beam coming out.

How?

Use right click when laying them, instead of left click. The laser beam also has to terminate within a certain distance, so that will limit where they can be placed. They work well in doorways, hallways, stairwells, etc.

You can crawl under the tripwire lite too, so they're fairly to scale...

i always put em in knee height or lower, caus ppl don't get as fast aware of the laser as if its in eye height, so they just rush into the laser and, boom.

about a tripmine trap somebody put down in area 22, he was GDF, I was strogg. I saw the laser, and I was like "pfft, I'm not falling for that tripmine. I prone under the laser only to be killed by the proxy right behind the doorway. I call that a trap within a trap and I give credit to whoever did that.

I don't think it was on purpose... because it would be a waste of mines because if you would have thrown a grenade not 1 but 2 mines were lost..

What good do tripmines do?

Because a prox mine would have a more wide area of detection.

Yes.

You are more likely to get a kill with a tripmine because they blow when the laser beam is tripped. The downside is they are easier to spot because of the laser beam.
