well im sorry but i have a few questions to ask that i cant seem to find the info to

are the unlocks global or match by match?

how many unlocks are there?

how will the leader bored work i know the ranks are done by doing X to get ranks not just mad killing, will it be kills, win loss ratio, ?

will the game work? i know it sounds like a really silly question but those of us that got 2142 when it came out will understand what i mean (hell 2142 dosnt work now lol)

what hack protection will there be (sorry again EA has muddyed the name of online FPS with me)

and last but not leased this is my first post so hi all *big wave*

sorry if the spelling is poor im dyslexic ... and a tad hungover

I am under the impression that there are no unlocks. Also, I wouldnt be worried about the game 'working'. SD arent EA.

From my understanding, SD being the wise old farts they are (actually im older than most of them) wont go the same trap BF2 went, BF2's global ranks and weapon unlocks created an unbalanced playing field whereby those that essentially have more time to play will be harder to kill because they get their unlocks sooner.

I believe, and this is somewhat of a guess, based on rumors and stuff, ETQW will have weapon unlocks that are campaign based, you play a campaign like you would in ET and your unlocks are based on points accumilated during that campaign, once the campaign resets so does your unlocks.....this keeps an even playing field for everyone.

In addition I hear that ETQW will have global ranks, but the ranks are determined by your team play ability, your ability to assist the team to achieve objectives.

Note - I dont know if the above is 100% true, but with what I have read and heard this is how I understand it to be, wouldnt mind our friendly neghbourhood community dude Badman chipping in here with the official word

This thread should be named Sorry I can't be bothered to use Google, Search function on old forum, or read one of dozens of previews. No interpunction, and thread title doesn't provide any hint about its contents. Subject line is there for a reason....

I think you are 100% right from what I have read. It's very similiar to the Wolf:ET system of campaigns.

What they said. Rank and Medals are persistent (so you do get some some idea of how experienced a player is), but Unlocks reset at the beginning of each campaign (so he doesn't have a SuperDuperGun when you just have a sharp stick).

Unlocks being reset after every match I'm not a big fan of I like to be rewarded for my gaming time on the whole not game by game but I guess the level playing filed is a nice idea

BF 2142 was indeed a large mistake, the game was far but ready, and the demo, was realy terrible (I flyed through lightposts). The publisher (EA) always sticks to the release date. This is for me the first diverence than with publishers like Activision (where ID, raven, SD and all other good producers are linked too).

About the game, visit some fansites, read some (online-) articels etc. O, and download W:ET

Dude it's wolfenstein enemy territory. It's free, and it is much better then any EA battlefield game. I mean a lot better.

In that game you get unlocks due to XP map to map. You typically do not get things like weapons as unlocks it is other skills for your character like decreased time for an engineer to build an objective, increased health for a medic or an extra clip etc.

It is much better then the level to level cookie driven bullshit that EA tries to use to keep its players playing day in and day out.

www.splashdamage.com its under downloads.. unless its on this site somewhere =]]Rather go to the ET Resources (http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120) sticky thread in the W:ET part of this site. It has all needed to play W:ET and link to various communities who could help you should you need some help.

Don't fail to go trough that thread's links though. It has no use to ask for some well-documented issue.

Also, don't be surprised to see (many) servers with "XP-save" or similar wording. This means the unlocks (which are normally reset at the end of each campaign) are not reset.

This is a good idea, removing ranks and medals would make the public gameplay pretty boring after a while, way more intresting when you're aiming for something.

I just hope these ranks and medals will be hard to catch, so that you dont get them all in only a few weeks.

Though, without a rankingsystem you will not have as many statpadders, or no statpadders since there are no stats that can be affected by what you do in the game.

I have to say I prefer permanent unlocks, I enjoy seeing something for my time, and as for a level playing field I find its the quality of the player not so much the kit.
If their going to do anything it should be just have all options open from the get go and let the player decide their load out because a good play will still open unlocks quicker than a bad one.

ET XP rewards style are a far better option than BF's persistent unlocks IMO.

However, persistent stats and 'ranks/medals' are a good choice as some players will want to keep playing for that reason.

Good decisions all round.

im with you on this one, i like having an advantage over another player through puting the time in and playing well i dont like the idea of starting again every campain,

well we get any thing for geting the ranks? like in 2142 and bf2 had new rank new unlock, so will we recive any thing nice or just the respect? like the higher the rank the less points you need to get the unlcoks?

after all i like having the right tool for the right job not sticking to one kit geting all the unlocks for that then moving on

ok i wouldnst say W:ET is better then BF2, BF2 may have ALOT of bugs and is made by EA, but its still pretty fun with Tanks,Helicoptors, Planes...
but i would never buy Bf2 thats why i play the demo :D
Let EA burn!
