Ghost Recon AW - felt like the same level over and over again. multiplayer was buggy as hell.

BF2 - (sorry I know its "cool" to pick on it) but the weapon accuracy was not good and vehicles felt like they had a major advantage, stat whores, and bugs that took forever to fix.

Tribes Vengeance. I actually loved it, and was near impossible to kill using the grappling hook along with my leet jetpack skills. Problem was any noob was likely to quit after an hour of being owned by previous Tribes players (few players available) and World of Warcraft came out about the same time.

Super Mario Sunshine, after the joy that was Super Mario 64 I couldn't wait to see what would be next, sunshine felt a bit silly to me, the water cannon thing didnt work too well either.

New Super Mario Bros on DS, although it was nice to see a proper 2D mario platformer again it was way too easy for my liking.

Metroid Prime 2, The first metroid prime game was one of my favs on the gamecube but the second one was a bit of a mess in my opinion, it got a tad repetitive, I just hope number 3 turns out well.

agree, I've literally had the game running approx 10 mins or so and it does nothing but cause problems. I have to say Majora's Mask on the N64 was rather dull for me, cod2 and Rome total war kinda took away the addictiveness that I had with Medieval total war :P

I like bf2142 but the big dissappointment there is that it took me so long to make it work right on vista. I've never had so much difficulty setting up a game ever. But as far as game play? Disciples 1. Graphics looked good for the time but the gameplay was just bad.

Do you play Quake just for the singleplayer game? Quake 3 was AWESOME in multiplayer, and still is the best multiplayer deathmatch game, imho. o_O

The most disappointing recent game for me was Oblivion. It's full of bugs, the game crashes all the time, the engine is really slow, considering it's only a bit prettier than Far Cry's (which renders large outdoor environments much more nicely than Oblivion's), and the levelling system really SUCKS.

Oh, and all Battlefield games after Battlefield 1942 were disappointing too, I agree. BF1942's buggyness was excusable, I think, since it was the first in the series and was developed by a new team. But because things never improved, and way too many trashy releases were made, I never bought a Battlefield game after that. (In fact, the last game from EA I've bought is BF1942, and I don't plan to buy another one from them until they start taking quality seriously).

Medieval 2 Total War, let down because of the extremely sloppy AI and buckletloads of tactical errors, and was a degrade from the style of the original MTW. Hopefully the new 1.2 patch will help me get back into it though.

CnC 3 was also a big disappointment. While graphically it looks great, the gameplay and style of the RTS is not what I was expecting after playing Dawn of War.

NWN 2 was another buggy disappointment, especially in the system requirements / graphics requirement.

Honestly too, Quake 3 & Quake 4 were let downs. Was expecting a lot more stuff in the DM department but Q4 just seemed like an updated refreshed version of Q3.

Dumbed down version of Heroes3, which didn't use good parts of Heroes4. Ugly warcraftish graphics, magic system primitive compared to previous games, extremely cliche races. Bad balance.

No Linux version. Original game ran on Linux. Clunky interface, buggy code.

Quake 3 Vanilla game was very uncool for me, I liked Quake2 athmosphere and gameplay much more. Vanilla Quake3 was too plastic. Once i got into Quake 3 Fortress I never looked back.

I'm with the few who said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for a title which was delayed over and over it sure didn't turn out the way I thought it would. Some really are enjoying it and I mean no offense to any. I was really taken back the first time I talked with someone and got a face full of text to read. Haven't we moved past reading novels while playing a modern day PC title. Was fine maybe in the 90's when coding just didn't support huge volumes of voice acting. But really I found the text to be a complete joke. The weather effects and day & night cycling were pretty cool. Something I still have to ask is why day & night cycling has not made it into a FPS since Joint Operations? Granted that title had its own issues it was incredible to have maps seen from two different views being day and night. In my opinion it gave a lot more life to the maps with so many different environment changes.

Oblivion. I followed that game for a while. I read a hundred pages describing how incredible the A.I. was, but when I finally played it, it wasn't so incredible. It was a great game don't get me wrong, but it wasn't as great as the information let out before release told me it was.

Gears of War was another dissapointment. My story for this game is a little weird. When I first got it, I must have played every day as long as I could for about a week straight. I beat the campaign with my friend over co-op online, then played multiplayer for the rest of the time. During that week, I was thinking to myself "this is the best game I've ever played!", but then I started to realize that the gameplay was getting old, there weren't many maps to choose from, and I just basically out played it. I haven't touched the game a single time after that week.

well on 360 i have to say that that was a great game through out! after beating the single player bunch of friends jumped into some coop on realistic and it was GREAT! From the A.I. to the story it was a fun game all around.

I think that prey was prematurely released just for financial reasons. Duke Nukem Forever needs all the money it can get.

I play games daily, but i don't buy them very often. Last game i bought was Quake 4 when it came out, and tbh, it was let down for me. Single player mode was ok, but it could have been alot better, and MP was worse. I had high hopes for it, but for me it was dissapointment.

Halo - never played it on Xbox, i really wanted to try it out at least on the pc and see what the hype was about....errr boring.

NFS Carbon - I was expecting this game to be a mix of Most Wanted and NFS Underground series, well i actually wanted all the features in it but no! the graphics on the PC really annoy me also. Everything was bad about it.

C&C3 - sheesh feels like childs play. I rather keep playing Company of Heroes.

Carmageddon TDR2000: Abandoned everything that was fun about the original Carmageddon (one of the most fun games I've played), the fun and the freedom.

Battlefield 2: Could have been the best game ever, instead it was bugfilled (or bugfield). Books could be written on what was wrong with it. Sad really.

Evil Dead Hail to the King: Just dirt. Cant someone make a great Evil Dead game?

Judge Dredd, Dredd vs. Death: Poor old Dredd. Will someone ever do a good job of bringing Dredd out off the comic book?

I have to agree with driv3r, that game was a letdown. I was a big driver fan, but my god that one was crap. Now the new driver? Nothing but a GTA clone. I guess R* set the bar on san andreas (cant wait for gta4). Tribes:V was fun, but stupidly they released it around the same week as HL2...so it dried out fast. Plus it wasnt newb friendly. Funny thing is that multiplayer demo beta did better than the game itself. And i love BF1942, but i hate the bf2...but the mods for them are awesome. 2142 is kinda cool...Dark Messiah is a big letdown also, game was too liner and too short.

Quake 4 - I enjoyed the single player, and while I didn't get the same buzz from the multiplayer, it was ok, but everyone else hated the multiplayer for Quake 4, and it was easy enough to see why. I think Quake 4 would have to be the first real disappointment (for me) from iD, although Doom 3's lack of real Multiplayer (despite iD never once stating it would have any real multiplayer) wasn't exactly pleasing either. I'd already decided that no other company was worth buying without seeing a demo first; iD held that honour alone, but after Doom 3 and then Quake 4 I'd decided to never buy anyone's games, not even iD's, blind ever again. If it wasn't for the gamertag reservation, I wouldn't have pre-ordered Quake Wars either.

Worst game I've ever played had to be Horizons. Gameplay was slow, graphics was just a cut above the original pitfall game. Second place goes to PlanetSide. After playing it in beta and a week into release, I dumped it cuz it just plain sucked.
