Question about Beta

So I now signed up for free FilePlanet account(late I know) and probably have a very very very small chance(like 0,01% chance) to get beta key but now how do I know I got it and what steps should I take to even get a chance?

Also is it just me or do you now even need a paid account to even get a chance? cause can't download it anyhow-.- (also signed up for beta list)

P.S I seen some people whining about the beta, I say if you are gonna stop playing then the key is wasted so at least give them to someone else ask for people who want one on the forums and then PM it to them(don't put it out in public)

The beta starts "officially" tomorrow or thursday, so it hasn't really started yet, only for small amount of players. Neither you don't need to pay to get in - free sign ups start 3 days after subscription required sign ups start.

P.S im wondering can you give your beta keys to other people at all? and then I mean if you already used them but then you don't want to give your whole account someone but just the key?

for example if I get key I would like to help test unless it doesn't run smoothly enough(though what I have seen from reqs I think I might be able to run smooth at medium graphics)

but even if I could get in I might not be around in few weeks(though if lucky I might be able to run it on Laptop with Vista though graphics card and memory in that one arent as good as in my own computer) so if I can't run it on the laptop my beta key would go lost? unless I could give it away.. and maybe those other people that whine and whine could give theirs away to helpfull testers.

I wish there was some list to append my name to and a key automatically sent to me if selected, I don't want to have to keep checking every ETQW site to see if anyone has reported that key are available.

I know alot of the time keys are gone with a very short time period, and unless you're jamming a hole in your keyboard where the F5 key is located the chances are very tiny to be one of the lucky ones.

There will be a special Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Public Beta mini-site going up on FilePlanet that will be available throughout the key distribution phase. When you log into this site with your FilePlanet account and keys are available at that time, you'll get your key along with a download link for the beta client.

I thought I read it specifically somewhere, but even from this, it sounds like keys are being given out on a first come first served basis during each period they're available. It doesn't sound like they are randomly selecting accounts to me.

if they arent then that means ALL those subscribers that registered ages ago will beat all the new subscribers o.0

and all the normal accounts will beat the new normal accounts o.0

Some users got keys for being ANNUAL subscribers and got the beta keys early. After that keys will be available to all subscribers, and after that it will be available to all the free account users. If you read the blog it would have told you this but you need to have your hand held and need to be spoon fed info unfortunately. :rolleyes:

After you have completed elementary reading the key will be emailed to you.

yea seriously, i think users need to take a reading test before even becoming a registered user -_-... there are stickies for a reason and the admins and mods in this website do a good job at making sure good stickies get posted. Let alone, there is a dev blog and news tab for a reason.

So is fileplanet actually just randomly emailing subscribers with a beta key or are they emailing them saying "Hay get in qw beta by clicking this link, first 10k get in blah blah." I just figured there would've been somewhere to sign up for the beta key for the yearly subscribers.

I don't know exactly the procedure with the QW beta, but usually you get a Key, with that you can create a beta account (username and password). The key is then "used", and you cannot create another account with it. So if someone gives you the key, you can't create a new account (perhaps you can get some account information, like "don't remeber your password?" when using the "used" key), he must give you his username and password.

On the other hand, from what I know about Quake games is, you must enter your Key, so the Game can ask the Masterserver, if the key is correct. In this case, someone might just give you his key, so you can play (but you can't use the key simultaneous with your friend).

If you speak of legality, I have no clue if it is allowed to share a beta account.

I think the question that wants answering is exactly where do we ge tthe key, im an annual subscriber to fileplanet and i don't see any "get key now" button, the client is not up for download. and nobody is answering, would somebody who got their key coz their an anual member please fill us in?

what if someone would delete his account? if that is at all possible... but let's say you can delete your own account... then the key/code isn't in use for any accounts any more and is then free to use for new accounts?

About signing up... I think there is some page where you can sign in for Beta list or something... maybe it's that? well I signed up for that but I dunno if that'll work and if they email or not.

Edit: also I noticed a beta keys page you can check when you login at fileplanet and then link my account... mine still got my Matrix Trial Key(yeah it also displays other keys beside beta keys for some reason). So that's probably one of the place's you can check... but I bet you would at least get a mail.
