View Full Version : Running at a constant FPS, but still is chugging?

So I have been trying to find the perfect settings for this game.

Tried with no AA, 2x AA, 4x AA, 8xAA, and 8xQAA with supersampling.

It'll handle 8xAA and remain at a constant 60fps. However, are the character animations locked at 30fps, even though the game is running at 60fps, like some "other" games? And if so, is there a way to unlock the FPS on *character animations.* I read the sticky on the regular FPS cap, but it still seems the character animations are locked at, perhaps, 30fps?

There is indeed interpolation on model position, even though it may be running at a lesser framerate. Quake3 was this way too-- default sv_fps was 20 even though people would be running at client FPSes of 100 and above. Anything else I wouldn't know how to answer, unfortunately.

it looks that way to me, and it also seems to update at 30fps when you're in a vehicle, regardless of your frame rate. To be blunt, it looks and feels completely shit and I'm really disappointed. Can't they smooth it out?

thats the hole point of a beta, to work out the bugs and perfect the game

Exactly. They stated they were working hard on optimizations.

Prediction/movement/etc and how everything flows will be smooth on release... Id and SD aren't dumb nor do the put out stuff early, so I'd bet money the game will be smooth on release.
