I found this in the readme
Uses LibSpeex Copyright: 2002-2005 Xiph.org Foundation Jean-Marc Valin, David Rowe, EpicGames, Analog Devices

Speex is the same codec used by Teamspeak for VOIP functions right?

Use ventrilo or teamspeak. Build in voip's are useless, and usually is a first step to finding ventrilo/teamspeak, so go over to step 2 without step 1 :)

Still, having fireteam chat would be neat.

Also do you know of any vent servers with people on them?

I hate the chat feature in some online games because they are hard to trace back to one individual.

I should know, I annoyed C&C3 players and they couldn't find out.
I would only use VoIP in a mature match where nobody was just mucking around.

Ehr... Wasn't VoIP built-in for this game? Sure it's no key you need to press, or the like?

i'm sure VoIP has been built in. but in many cases, they tend to be very flakey... hence the reason why people flock to Vent and TS

I agree, the addition to VoIP over the FireTeam would be very handy. :)

Hello Forum,

I am not sure. Paul Wedgwood only confirmed the v chat:

Any plans for including voice over IP?

Paul Wedgwood: Yeah, VoIP is in already. We have the same kind of 'v' chat we had in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, so you can type letters very quickly and it fills out the whole sentence and sends it as a fast message. We've got the traditional team chat and global chat as well.

ET:QW is not based on Quake 4.

I have just read this post and i can't believe that a modern game heavily promoted on its "Teamplay" would not have VOIP built in. I hope the final builds have it and i dont mean just global team channel speak slapped in. I would expect something more form the way the game has been promoted.

I like the built-in ones for public - and usually switch over to a ventrilo server if we're playing clan wars.
