first map i will comment on is outskirts, when hacking the shield generator it is better to spawn at the outpost grab a husky and take a right and you'll be at the generator in no time, also you can get to the transmitting room easily also (strogg get annoyed by how fast im back harrassing them)

second is on canyon when hacking the generator (this one isn't closer as it is safer) spawn at the previous forward spawn (destroyed building) and take the armadillo or husky and take a right go down the path and left then straight to the shield generator (strogg don't aim their guns that way and no pesky hill to run up)

other than that the other fwd spawns are well placed

It gives you options... what are you suggesting? Remove them? Move them closer? I think its fine as is.

"Move them closer," I would guess. I think it's not so bad the majority of the time, but I see what he's saying. There is no GDF forward spawn in the game as forward as the Strogg spawns on maps like phase 3 Ark and pahse 1 Quarry (except possibly for Volcano).

just informing because it saves time (note that this is tips tricks and strategies)

well the last spawn on canyon is pretty close but the ark one is CLOSE (but easy to defend while taken mmm titan)

OK, but the OP is kinda worded like you're grumpy about it. I've read and agree with your suggestions, but it sounded a bit like you were implictly comparing them to Strogg spawns (since it's the GDF spawns that aren't so close).

heh thats a rant for another day (area 22 gdf's first fwd spawn grrr)

but I want to inform people about alternative routes other than the normal turreted mined and cyclops way and maybe it will inspire people to look for other places that are actually faster due to secret paths and vehicle heavy spawns

It's not like you're forced to spawn at forward spawns.

Almost everyone seems to do though. And especially on Outskirts i just don't get why.

Yeah, it is because defaulted you will spawn on the frontline. But taking a vehicle from the base/outposts can sometimes be faster. However, there is a couple of things you should know:

When you spawn, you get a spawn shield, so if decide to use vehicle, you may lose this spawn shield. This spawn shield is very useful against if someone is spawn camping.

It is only really faster if you take a light vehicle, like husky/armadillo/anansi, not trojan or titan.

Some levels, you can also spawn and go behind your enemy, for example:

The GDF base in the ark,

The hangar in volcano, after the strogg takes the second objective. Most people don't know about this one.

The GDF base in salvage.

This can be quite helpful sometimes, if you wanna go cause trouble deep in enemy territory.

I think the trojan is the best vehicle to use in Outskirts hacking mission. It's fast and it fits in the middle of those small "walls" or something so you can drive it to the generator.

As soon as I can select spawns with the touch of a button I will start mucking around with it. Otherwise I will just spawn at the frontline unless for a vehicle.

I agree with using the not so forward spawn in Canyon if you are trying to hack, however, grabbing a husky and another couple teammates and going LEFT from the garage the husky is parked in all the way around the mountain can be good when they (strogg) have AVT's up. I just wish people would try to share vehicles more in-game..

The "forward" spawn I think is funny is the second one on Island for the GDF. You must be like 100 feet away from the other spawn. I guess capturing it means you have a few more vehicles, but most people never turn around after their parachute drop to pick up one.

One word:
Slipgate

Slipgate is a great example of a map where using a different spawn can be effective. Spawning back on slipgate as the GDF and taking a dilo or huskey in around the back can get you some great hacks and allow you to avoid near all defenses.

I don't think it matter too much and I think SD got it right, for the most part.
I will admit that i played literally hundreds of hours of this game before I even realized where to cap that forward spawn you mention on Outskirts. I had no idea there was a capturable spawn there for the longest time!
Of all the forward spawns in this game, the one mentioned on Outskirts has to be the most pointless. On the same note, it doesn't hurt anything and it does give your team more options.

It's still quite a distance.

I think that most forward spawns are very essential, some cover a few yards and some half a mile (Canyon). Yet any team suffers heavily under the delay if they're being taken from them.
