View Full Version : A reason to put up 2 AITs, or to fully protect the one AIT.

A trick I found out is that, people who have an AIT deployed think they are safe, so by using that knowledge, I position myself near the AIT, usually if there is a cliff, and that my grenades can reach the AIT. I fire my hammer, and making sure constructors aren't around, I unload everything, from grenades to my own bullets on that AIT until it gets disabled.

The disabling of the AIT has to be so that the hammer does not get intercepted, which is why I place the hammer launcher as far away as possible. As the missile is travelling, people will tend to see the hammer in the sky, and say phew, I have AIT without noticing that the person doing the target lock on stuff is also trying to wreck the AIT.

The trick is to wreck the AIT before your own hammer missile gets there. The regular artillery works as well, except that it would intercept a few shots, and the rocket artillery I think won't work with this technique. Of course the strogg opressors can position themselves near the GDF AIT, usually in a hill, and call in the DMC shot, and spam grenades at the AIT until it gets disabled, and before it gets intercepted.

Once the AIT is disabled, the Hammer/DMC will finish off the rest.

I field tested this, and it is tough. I'm telling you, one single field ops can wreck everything with his hammer, nades, and gun, if you don't protect your AIT.

So all you AIT guys, if you see some red targeting sight thing, don't think that the fops/oppressor is an idiot or blind because he can't see the AIT. After he fires his artillery, expect nade and gun spam on your precious AIT, or place the AIT at the center and away from cliffs. The more near a the AIT to a cliff is, the easier the Fops can destroy it. 2 nades and some rifle rounds are enough to disable an AIT before the Hammer arrives at its location.

Normally when i notice that artillery has been called in on my position I check the local AIT quickly to see if it's in need of repairs or not when I'm a constructor.

Otherwise I just run the **** away.

I usually run around in the red beam trying to disrupt his target until i can sight and shoot him. Consider myself a MAIT Deployable (Mobile Artillery Interceptor Turkey) when that happens.

Very funny!

Classic. Although I had a different "T".... rhymes with BAT.

Being a FO mostly myself...I do the same thing...really pisses me off (usually tho its my team) so I figure it will do the same to the other guy!

i wish the AIT could be stronger, every tank/missle/grenade is aimed towards it and its out in 1sec :(

Be sure to to put some space between the Aits so a single vamp, violator wont leave you open to art. spamming.

I also mentioned to place AITs away from cliffs. FOPS who usually sit on cliffs can easily throw almost anything at that AIT. Grenades are better just to save the charge bar.

AIT is really easy to take out, and also easy target for RL troops and any rambo medic who is looking to spam his nade. In reality, Unlike APT and AVTs, they can't really defend themselves and you can never get frags from AIT, a lot of constructors don't even bother deploying them.

When I see a hammer, or arty coming, I generally try to hide inside a building. I also heard it is possible to intercept hammer with rockets, not sure if that is possible.

really? I thought you got points from them

Yeah, you get exp if your AIT intercepts enemy arty strikes, but AIT can never kill someone. Like I never seen:

Player A [AIT] Player B

But, you can get crushed by AIT when it is deployed, but that is different.

You can be killed by an AIT. I know. :( I stood exactly where Rocket Arty was being intercepted.

Pffff

Who needs an AIT when you can fly a Bumblebee right into the DMC and intercept it?

I didn't know you can do that, I must give it a try then.

Grr.

Being the only con on volcano with three field ops raping your position is AWESOME.

yer I have been doing this for quite some time.
Problem is... nades. you only get 2/3 and then you need to trundle back to a supply-crate(if any) or do a respawn (or rambo-die) to then trundle back

on a map like Volcano the time between targeting a de-AIT area, respawn and trundle back is ~= the time for fire support recharge for STROGG...

I'd go for MAIR

Mobile Artillery Intercepting Retard.. but hey? who am I :D
