Here's an excellent guide to the Sewer map, on Ifurita's ETQW 4Newbies site: http://4newbies.planetwolfenstein.gamespy.com/ETQW/sewer.php

Ifurita did an awesome job on this guide. I applaud him for his hardwork.

Everyone new to the beta should read this guide.

If the Strogg team is bit dumbfounded it is easy to take the tank and throw mayhem all over the map. The hills on the left offer so good range and visibility that even Cyclops has troubles.

Thought I'd post this up here in the sticky thread. Lots of general topics covered. The goal of the site is to flatten the learning curve as much as possible.

yep def good work. setting up the binds is probably the most useful for myself....its been many years since i actively created my own binds so a refresher course is always good.

it's amazing that people still keep going the same way over and over again.. strogg and GDF both choke point at the south grate.. when the north grate is actually better positioning to protect against people planting explosives for the south grate

the north grate "back way" it very hidden but still, people dont venture out to find alternate ways to do things..

so pleeeeeeease GDF players, know the map and know the back routs to do things differently.

hi iffy - thanks for the guide.
"spawn host"
just really started diving into this. How do you actually use a spawn host? I mean in game. I've read about it in your faq, and understand the basics of creating etc. But...how do you as a player use one once created, to actually spawn from it, instead of spawning elsewhere? Do you have to mark the host you want to use? If so, how do you mark it?

secs:

Unclaimed spawn host has spikes up, not down. Press 'f' ('use' key) to claim it. You will get a small icon down that you have a spawnhost. When you die you will spawn there, unless GDF medic destroys it or you choose other location to spawn.

Thanks! That makes sense, just like every other use function then....how utterly brilliant of me not being able to figure that out :)

This image shows an arrow up the broken stairs. When you have jumped up to the stairs, there is only a door there, that you cannot open.

So I'd like to say it is not an entry point. :)

Do you guys get mad at me if i ask about those ranking things beside of your names?

Szakalot
06-10-2009, 08:27 PM
epic bump; that ranking is based only on the post count on this forum, it has nothing to do with the game itself.

You pay $15,- per rank here.

Ahh, I'll toss some good tips out there, since no one else is.
1. Titan and to a lesser degree Trojan are vital for the GDF. The Titan camping the hills on the left is the main thing. The Trojan is only really useful to get rid of the Tormentor if its being competently flown, and might as well hang back.
2. Strogg Technicians are vitally important all the way through, on this one. Spawnhosts are your best friend. Use them at any and all opportunities. (The metal-looking ribcages on the ground. Spines up is unclaimed, spines down is claimed. They'll let you respawn at them if they're not destroyed by GDF Medics.) They''re the best defense in the outdoor phase. A good tech or two can win the game for Strogg right there. They're not so useful about the Forward Spawns, but they're massively useful indoors. Especially keeping Hyperblaster users supplied with stroyent.
3. Get the hell inside ASAP if the initial shield generator falls. The forward spawn should only be bothered with once the inside areas are secure, for Strogg, and only to help get people inside on GDF.
4. GDF rocket noobs are important here, to get rid of Constructors attempting to disarm the bombs on the sewer grates, and any Strogg "human shields" in the way.
