G15 Macros

Hey guys!

Are you using the versataile abilities of the G15? Personly I found the most things I could do I can do faster myself without reaching on the G buttons.

The only things I did were:

Switch to Main Weapon and Reload
Switch to Secondary Weapon and Reload
because sometimes I messed up my buttons

Or maybe somebody did play with the Lua scripts?

Same here, haven't had the time to really play with it.

I use it for FOV changes, Show Gun, Default Spawn, Self Kill, and class changing scripts amongst a few other things, they are never things that I do "on-the-fly", because as you state, they are too far out of the way for fast usage. Also, I find that they don't work when in ETQWPro for some reason, I am sure it is something that I am doing, the profile is loaded, they just don't respond.

That sucks, mine never goes above 36% (and I'm only running 4 Gigs right now). :(

huh. Have you tried using silicon?

I watch my g15 LCD show me my memory never go above 80% on my 2GB and with all textures on max and all sliders on max at 1920x1200 resolution.

I am on XP though, the gamers platform of choice!

If it's Vista.... well don't blame SD. Vista is FTL!

Try disabling all non-essential processes... (AV software etc)

Or as mentioned, getting rid of the Vista Malware if you have this infection. :D

Don't say that, I never have had any problems with Vista (Vista x64 Home Premium), let alone memory leaks.

I use practically all of the 18 G-buttons for vsays.

Only G-12 button as a targetting tool/binoculars.

Before I used G-12 as a spotting macro button, but since I now have a G9 mouse, I swapped this macro to mouse3 - more convenient like that. I am not aware of any other macros for G15.

The fact is, G-buttons are too far away from WASD to be very useful as macro buttons. The biggest advantage of G15 is 18 buttons more and an LCD, which I use to check the class level upgrades (stars), since in-game you can't check them quite fast.

A disadvantage of G-keys is that as far as I know you can't bind things on them using "modifier" buttons, like for example

bind a "_usevehicle" "shift"

because they are already modified. So you can bind them only once. I'm also skeptic about toggle scripts on G-keys. i think I checked this once and it didn't work (here not sure).

Does this mean your coming back Fireworks? You never mentioned you used the G15 when you were playing. I've got one and tryed to macro a few vsays but they only worked 6/10 times and the Esc and Tab key stopped working. Wish they'd made an official QW profile, would have made life alot simpler but i'm now used to the default settings.

G11, but same idea. I use them for class/weapon selection, and then some random chat stuff.

More useful in Photoshop to me, honestly.

Hey Seanza here is what i did with my Gkeys...

first you need to create an autoexec file... for help on this if you dont know how... follow this LINK (http://4newbies.planetwolfenstein.gamespy.com/ETQW/scripting.php#autoexec)

next you want to pick a key on your keyboard that will be used the in 'Logitech G-series Keyboard Profiler"

here is a bind i typed in my autoexec... note the command "CTRL"

after typing all my binds and saving the autoexec here:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR COMPUTER NAME\My Documents\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\sdnet\loki#\base

i opened the G15 profiler, then PROFILE and then NEW and under name i called it ETQW: Profile.... under DESCRIPTION Icalled it BINDS and under 'Select Game Executable' (this were my game is) C:\Program Files\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE

From here i just went to each G key.. for instance G1 and click on it and went to ASSIGN KEYSTROKE and hit CTRL then 1 and then G2 ASSIGN KEYSTROKE hit CTRL then 2 -- did that with all 15...

when you are done and load ETQW the LCD will display loading "whatever you named the profile" my says loading ETQW:Profile... and thats it...

hope this makes sense? working on a few hours sleep our little girl decided to come 30 days premature this morning (early this morning!) (baby and mommy are doing great) as matter of fact me and buddies where at the IRonMan premiere last night when i got the call at 10pm... luckily there was only 5 minutes left in the movie.. lol... so i hope this will help you.. if not let me know and when i get a chance i will reply back...

I have a v2 G15 and I use the G keys for /kill, spotting, medic call and pause for etqwpro. I use the num pad for my class select.

heres my list

g9 - targeting tool/binoculars
g12 - item 1 (key 6)
g15 - tools 2 (pressing key 5 twice)
g18 - item 2 (pressing key 6 twice)
g11 - switch vehicle views
g17 - stroyent to health (also on my mouse)
g16 - stroyent to ammo

i would add a few commands that would be like "take out med packs" then "fire" but my binding knowledge is limited :P

also i press all the keys with my pinky :p

Cool, so then you only face the 10-20% performance loss in most direct x 9.0c games then. Not bad. Your infection must be only minor then!

Simply back up your data, format your drive before the infection spreads to any other household PC's and install XP and then restore your data! You may just make it.... just.

Probably because your pagefile is crammed full of etqw.

I have multi-boot and I don't notice any difference when playing a game on Vista64 or XP64. For most games the RAM and CPU usage stays around the same for me, hovering somewhere between 20% - 35%. Sure, that 15% might seem like a lot to some people, but to me it seems minimal and I enjoy some of the features of Vista. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that everyone else out there needs to have their copy plagued with the same problems you had. As for my pagefile, it never seems to be bursting at the seams or anything while play Quake Wars, I have never seen any sort of memory issue when playing it, regardless of the operating system (except for Slackware seems to have much smaller RAM usage overall for any app). I won't push Vista on you, but stop trying to convince me that I don't like it or that it doesn't meet my needs.

I use the Gkeys only mostly for textbinds.
My binds include an explanation of what I'm saying:
"Need radar"
covops/infiltrator, please use your deploy tool!!!

Got me a G15 Refresh and use the G-Keys as follows:

G1-G5 always bound to spawn me as the desired Class (G1 Soldier, G2 Medic and so on...)

G6 is what i use for VoIP chat -> M1 Set for Global ->M2 Set for Team -> M3 Set for Fireteam
