View Full Version : Ikarus Hammer Missile Defence Strategy

I like to play Ikarus D as the strogg as anyone who has played against me can atest. One of my favorite things to do ATM is to fly straight into a hammer missle incoming on the base 100-150m above the ground.
It explodes, I die, the base lives on. KAMIKAZE ! ! ! ! :D
I have not yet tried shoting it with a gun, or rocket.

This works guys seriously. . I flew into one by accident (well got hit by one) then I flew directly into one way above the map to test and it detonated. NO casualties from my team accept me. All defence assest remained up.
Respawned and was back in position in time for puff a bowl :D

rofl nice tactic dude! but be sure to check if there aren't any anti missile things up before you decide to blow yourself up:D
In ET there was usefull "tactic" to jump in front of Panzerfaust rocket (fast as anti-tank(?) missile in QW) when covering engie which is defusing dyno. But it's very hard and requires a lot of luck and prediction.
Usually it's easy to defend engie from smg players because even if he is shot theres still some time to revive him before he's gibbed, also smg players need to show up so they can shoot, but someone shoots back aswell, but panzer delivers fast, instant gibbing death and Soldier with panzer needs to show up only for 1 second to deliver it :)
You can't imagine pleasure of having rocket delivered in your face when you save your engie in last seconds of defuse.

xD yeah... but I find the Icarus thing more usefull cause a hammer missile could kill more then just one engie... it could easily kill 10 in a area:P

I guess it would be easier to charge it with a Tormentor? I read somewhere you don't have much control over the Icarus once you take off..

Incorrect, if you pump shift you can hover and move around quite easily :D

You can shoot down hammers with nearly anything solid. Flier drones, tormentors, rockets, icarus, are the most common.

YUeah the first time i was just flying around baked out of my head looking at stuff and I got smoked by a Hammer completely by accident like 150m above the ground.
9 was there he was laughing his ass off. :D
