... but the truth is that I can't.

How does one fly a tormentor or a helicop.? When I got into one, first i press UP and the plane increase in altitude. After that I can try to steer it forward but I must keep my mouse straight otherwise i start losing control and start moving sideways, eventually collide into a mountain or some building and die in an embrassing manner.

Secondly, how do I best use oppressor and infiltrator classes? i don't know what to do once i deploy a radar or an canon. i want to snip others but always somebody ends up killing me even before i actually start snipping.

one annoyed :infiltrator:

woot, i can plugin shamelessly again.
As for flying, i think this (http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30057) will help you

Opressor should :
use artillery
throw tactical shields at choke points; additionally once you see a gdf corpse down, and you know that technicians are nearby, throw one shield at the corpse. It will allow the technicians to make a spawnhost. Same applies for strogg fallen comrades; throw a shield at them.
Also - and this is the best use : throw shields at plant/construct/hack objectives your team attack. For example, mining laser on salvage - throwin a shield or two, facing the enemy, will allow constructors to build the thing.

As for infiltrator : your main goal, apart from deploying radar is disabling enemy vehicles. Scramble grenades can disable GDF vehicles for 30 seconds, doing that to a titan is a real pain, also; you can use the flyer drone to ambush enemies - but dont rely on the flyer drone only. Once you wait for it to recharge, you might as well engage enemies with your main weapon, right?

On top of what Szak said :
Oppressor can also shield comrades from turrets, best used near objectives.
Example, Ark, obj 1, shield the route from the house to the generator from APT that is standing to the right of that path 95% of the time, then rush the obj and shield the obj for your Agressor to plant, drop a nade before leaving after the plant is made (NEVER leave your shield up at a planted charge, that only makes life easier for GDF to defuse), rush back to the house, time your violator to protect the plant.
Also, shield will prevent your arty, rockets and DMC to be killed by nearby AIT : locate the AIT, go nearby (Icarus ftw), drop your DMC when you feel it's handy, then go to the AIT to drop a shield on it. If you do it the sneaky way, the owner of the AIT won't be aware at all that his tool will not work and will not take appropriate action in time (is you disable or destroy the AIT, he knows it, obviously ;) ), he won't even warn his mates that they are not protected anymore.
Third, shields are fun and usefull on a Hog, preventing your ride to be destroyed by 1 single Titan shot. But I'll stay away from Hog tips, I'm a failhog master.

On pubs, as Infil, repeatedly going for ennemy radar can be usefull, Strogg have a nifty fast transport way (Icarus) that can make you go there in no time and keep the GDF radar down for the whole map. It's balanced out by the ability of Spec Ops to drop 3rd eye as backup radar, though. But if you do so and you see after 2 or 3 runs that suddenly, more radar are being dropped by GDF, you know you're doing your job right : some of them just switched class to get radar, tired of repeating "we need a radar" without effect, that means less potential obj/support class. If you combine this with what Szak said about the nme vehicle disabling, you'll be a big support for your team.
+ it's helluva fun.
A 3rd lil fun thing to do as infil : keeping ennemy spawns out of their hand (Refinery 2nd obj comes to my mind) : you can sneak in to retake it, drop a teleport in a safe place before retaking it, if you're caught while doing it, TP away, wait a bit, rince and repeat. Things like that.
That makes for quite a fun class to play, tbh.

imo, infils are better for killing. Use the sniper/rail to kill at long distance, The scoped + accurised for med - long distance mass killings. I regularly get 80+ kills with accurised on maps like refinery, valley and Canyon. Emp'ing is very usefull in comp, but in public with no oblit, vehicle and flyer restrictions, there are much easier ways to take down vehicles.

please don't snipe if you suck at it, try finding a class that fits you (if you're a beginner i recommend the engineer or constructor).

So how come do you get better at sniping if you never try?

you practice hand-eye coordination in a more challenging environment, like close combat.

edit: the timing, going for headshots, etc. is just a little mini-game your able to grasp in 10 hours or less.
