 A friend of mine and I found that this works extremly well.
On the last objective in the sewers (where the GDF have to hack the controls)
find a tech. and two aggressors with hyperblasters, have them crouch down behind the sewer controls and blast the heck out of anything that comes near you. MAKE SURE you are crouched, otherwise the opposing team WILL be able to see you. Have the tech. keep the two aggressors alive and create spawn hosts there.
This also works extremly well with radar, that way you can get a heads up and prepare.

why fall back so much? camping the tunnels works just as well, and when you get naded, or sniped, or rocket launched into the limbo; you will never get that position back.

then 1 guy switches to grenadelauncher, launches a single grenade over the console and you 3 are dead :)

Good points, but if you do it RIGHT, this strategy works great.
Besides, the walls of the controls will help protect you from `nade launchers, unless the guy who`s using it is REALLY good at ricocheting.

just aim at the ceiling, it will go down on your head

in any case, if its like the last minute or two, and your struggling, it might be good to fall back to the controls to make last stand.

Basically there are two factors into it:
a) the closer to objective you are, the farther the attackers have to go to fight you (and they will HAVE to, thats the assumption); so if you manage to hold a wave, it might be more efficient than stopping a wave near their spawn

BUT

b) the closer to objective you are the higher the stakes of each wave. If your camping their spawn, even if your defence breaks apart, you will have some time to regroup at another strategic point. If your camping the hack controls its do or die (and lose); once gdf clear it out, you most likely wont get it back.

The idea of defending is to hold off the enemy for as long as possible. since its quite hard to counter attack on pubs (assuming that teams are pretty equal) you just gotta fight for each step, before giving it back.

Mass defences at chokepoints, this idea is heavily dependant on what the rest of the team is doing. if they are spawncamping, it might be better to camp the tunnels, even more so, if the battle takes places in the grates-area; the tunnels; and that intersection, before the controls room area

If they only have south blown, you should be able to hold them just inside the grate with a team who don't have their collective heads in their butts.

Have a tech spawnhost every corpse that makes it way past the grate, and drop stroy in bunches just around the 2 doorways leading into the hack obj.

spray down the grate opening with hypers, lacs, and nades.

If they've taken south and north or south and hatch, it's not a horrible idea to have a tech repeatedly running back to the controls to drop stroy around an aggressor w/ hyperblaster, and making spawnhosts in the hack room for the defenders to take (out of the hyper's victims)

I was in this very position last night during a pub match, and between me and 1 tech, we held off a whole slew of covis medics and soldiers, while the rest of our team was off screwin around.

Thank you to point that out for everyone! You cant imagine how many time I'm frustrated on sewer, as soon as they have (gdf) one gate open every strogg go into the control room waiting like lemmings the rocket which will kill 5 or 6 of them in one shot.... Comn ppl! get 4 guyz in the room b4 the control one set a crossfire (one strogg front of the gate and one on the right of it and its enuff if your entire team is still on the tunnels + balcony + rooms b4 this one. It can be deadly if one or 2 guyz manage to go thru, but with some good shots in strogg teams its the best def I ever seen so far... do not regroup too much! one nade and you are all dead!

Peace
