We want to have QW and can hardly wait. But what was the last game you wanted to play so bad?
For me, it was Doom 3, because
- 't was Doom
- neat graphics

Without doubt, I have to comply to that too. Doom 3 was insanely exciting. Shame its too scary to play all the way through in one go; it looked a lot quicker and a lot more fun in the original videos.

Acctually i waited a long time for Half-Life 2, however the game didn't impress as much as i expected. Still a good game thought.
Test Drive Unlimited on the 360.

I have to say the biggest for me was also Doom 3. It turned out to be exactly what I expected, great game.
For consoles, Halo 2 by far.

Forgot to add TES4: Oblivion to my list. That game was definitely something I was really looking forward to play. The way they bragged about the new A.I. they had, made people think it would be amazing.
Good game, but far from what I expected.
Fallout 3 has been an announced, and despite being a big Fallout fan I don't know if I'm really that bothered or not :c

Very sadly, BF2142 is the latest. I was so excited about it... but then I got into the beta and my interest in it just flat out _DIED_. That game is crappy mod for BF2 (which I still play) and I wasn't about to pay $50 for it. I'll get it, maybe, when I see it at the local discount bin for $20.

Mass Effect, it hasn't come out yet. I've even joined there forums but the people on those forums took Mass Effect to seriously. Mass Effect is an RPG based in the future. They talking about how they can't wait for one of features which was where you can take an human or alien girl out no a date? Going out with A video game character plus an alien chick, wtf? Then I made a forum talking about perfect music to listen to when playing M.E. like System of a down too Powerman 5000, and they type curse words saying that "whos even hered of those people!" How the heck can you not hear about System Of A Down or even Breaking Benjamin? Then the most stupidest thing I've ever read, "RPG haters", people who say Mass Effect gay but get this they said "well the people who hate RPGs are those who plays First Person Shooter or think RPGs is like reading a book" and also one said "people who hate RPGs r thos who r waiting 4 Enemy Territory: Quake Wars thos people r dum n so is da game!" I reply "If you think people who hate RPGs those who play FPS then you have got to be the most stupid answer ever and second RPGs are games and a book is something you will never understand unless you it the game manual and still have a hard time reading that!" I was then banded from there forums and can't belive on how sad it is to be playing RPGd 24/7!

Same here. I still enjoy it for all its faults. Nevertheless, I'd have to say that my eagerness for ET:QW is much higher.
Quake 4. It was supposed to bring new life back to the Quake genre, but... well, you know what happened.

Yeah, I was hoping that was going to be good too, but I played the beta for a week and thought "Okay! It just needs some more work! I'm sure it will be great!" then I heard it was going to be released by the end of the month, and thats when I gave up. The really sad part is that they never even fixed one of the beginning quests.

RTCW kind of just happened for me. No great hype.
But then i can remember constantly scanning the SD forums looking for info about some sort of strange follow up they were working on. Only for it to be cancelled, due to "issues". But a free MP would be made available.
So it was back to scanning the SD forums waiting for news about W:ET.
.
And now god dammit you have me reading these forums while i wait for the latest game, ET:QW to be released.

It seems i just cant win.

you won't believe it...World of Warcraft :)
I remember I was extremely psyched up the day before release because I had already received my cool Collector's Edition copy of the game, but had to wait an indefinite number of hours until the servers went online for the first time. I just sat infront of my computer, checking their status for hours until around 1 in the morning when I got really tired and though "**** it, they won't go up this night" and went to bed. I got up a few hours later in the early morning just to check again, and then they were up! I probably played for like 10 hours straight then.
I was quite excited about the WoW expansion, but it wasn't such a huge event as the original launch of the game.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5
I loved HoMM 2 and 3. HoMM 3 is my most played (single player) game ever, having played all the expansions and campaigns at least 20x. HoMM 4 sucked and I was hoping 5 would rule...sadly it didn't. Was a cool game in the end, but way too easy, and the maps were scripted to make it a challenge - instead of 2+3's very good AI that would press you, now you just had to know when hero's would appear from a scripted event to give you trouble.

September 2002: UT2003. And I loved it...for about a week. And then it reeked of suck.
November/December 2003: Deus Ex: Invisible War. Biggest disappointment ever.
Fall 2004: Tribes: Vengeance. But I could see from playing the demo that things were dumbed down quite a bit. And former Tribes vets were kicking my behind just as easily as before. And the developers quickly abandoned their support. Good thing I didn't bother buying it.
June 2005: Battlefield 2. And in the end I didn't care for it much.
March 2006: TES 4: Oblivion. And it took some getting used to. But then I was insanely hooked on it. I still am, sort of.
2007: Quake Wars

Hm... I'm a member of the Bioware forums and I've never witnessed such ignorance, or maybe I'm just lucky not to come in contact with those people?
Anyway, the last game I was really excited about was Medival 2: Total War, beacuse it was the sequel to one of the best stratergy series ever!
When I played it there was some things wich I think could have been done better, but it's the best game in the series still.

Yeah DooM 3 was a big one for me too. Not as big as Doom 2, but close. I remember reading the words 'in your hot little hands you hold'.. and my hands were little (me being about 8) and they were hot.. I had loved Doom 1 and couldn't wait.. this was probably the first game I ever bought.
Also if anyone here is a consol gamer too.. if you remember on the ps1 there was a game called Twisted Metal.. I remember waiting for the sequal to come out like a rabid dog.
That and vigilante 8.. I gotta make a list here too many titles..
01) Doom 2
02) Dark Forces
03) Doom 3
04) Quake 2
05) Twisted Metal 2
06) Quake 4
07) Vigilante 8
08) X-wing Vs. Tie Fighter
09) Carmeggedon
10) Tribes Vengeance
-- Honorable mention.. Halo.. I had loved marathon on mac =]

Half Life 2, because Half Life 1 was ownage. Too bad Half Life 2 failed miserably.
Also Oblivion, because Morrowind was ownage. Well it was "tuned down" because of consoles, but I still enjoyed it very much.

I did exactly the same thing, I waited for GoW for over a year but was pretty much done with it in 1 month.
ok... yes, i am a sad sad woman..... mine was Sims 2 Seasons!!! lol....
As well as playing ET (whilst patiently waiting for QW!) I am also a self confessed sim addict (have been since the day it came out!)
I am now very eagerly awaiting the release of Sims Bon Voyage :) It has a Sep release date (and they arent usually wrong!) so what do you think my chances are of getting that before QW?! lol

Battlefield: Vietnam
This game was announced at a time where I lived and breathed BF1942 and I was VERY excited about it's upcoming release. Once it was released and I played it for a while I couldn't believe how incredibly overpowered a few of the kits were, namely the US' M60/'nade launcher and LAW kits. I remember the M60 had nearly twice the firepower of any other kit and was as accurate as anything in the game. Of course this meant that EVERYONE used it, even NVA/VC when they were able to get it off a player they had killed. I've seen some pretty overpowered weapons in games, but the M60 was by far the worst. And a pretty close second was the choppers in the game. They were so easy to fly and had so much ammo and health that a half assed decent pilot could completely own the battlefield by simply circle strafing the enemies main. I ended up uninstalling it after a couple of months. I heard that they nerfed the choppers and m60, but it was too late. By that time I had already uninstalled it. From then on I won't buy a game until I've played at least a demo of it. It's saved me from buying several games that I might have bought before. ET:QW won't be any different in that aspect no matter how much it's hyped. (but I've got a good feeling about it, mainly because it's NOT an EA game)
