I remember a while ago there was talk of not distributing all the assets for the sdk because there was a huge amount. What is the situation atm.
Im sure we would all want as much of the content as possible eventually if not at release.

I'd also like to know this. I never quite understood the "huge amount" explanation. Break it up in 1gb parts and let us BT it.

It might as well make a nice extra DVD in the collectors edition. :P

Hello Forum,

It might as well make a nice extra DVD in the collectors edition. :P
Yes, I also wish that the DVD have this content:

- A Making Of with Interviews where the Developers shows us how the solves the big problems
- Interviews with id, Nerve and Splash Damage
- Many Sources for the SDK
- Presentation Videos in HD from QUAKE CON 2006
- Videos about the QUAKE Wars Story

I believe they said something involving the megatexture, since the source files weighed in at about 50gb, which also may have even been per map.

The resources, I think, will be simply usable from your game's installation directory, in the same way as Doom 3 / Quake 4 / Prey (for those that don't know: all is compressed into '.pk4' files, which are in fact '.zip' files, then you just need to extract resources from these archives...).

So basically, I don't think that they'll release the resources on a separated download with the SDK, but simply with the game.

I was wondering if we also have acces to the 12 existing maps: In other words, Can we load them directly from the Quake Wars-DVD into the editor, like it was with the doom3 / quake 4 maps? Or will the Sdk contain only one map like it was with W:ET (goldrush.map) and RTCW (mp_beach)?

You no longer need to supply the .MAP source with your level so I'm guessing they'll put one (or two) .WORLD sources with the SDK.

@Sebultura:
since the models ingame are all the low poly versions, It'd be nice to have the highpoly versions too.
But I doubt they will release all of them, maybe 1-2.

@FireFly & Mordenkainen:
I do hope they release the .map files with the game or sdk, since they probably are very big, it should be no problem.

Personally I'm more concerned about all the textures being available.
There's always going to be a point where I'll have to create my own
but having a good selection to start with is going to help a great deal by
saving myself a great deal of time.

Torrenting it would a good solution, then people could choose which items they require from the full package.
