Can't open pk4 with winzip, winrar

I was under the impression that the pk4's are similar to pk3's.. am I mistaken? What tool do I open it with?

Also, I would do a search except that search doesn't seem to be working because I did a search for pk4 and it didn't return anything and I know I saw that word mentioned before.

Googling through Modwiki (http://www.modwiki.net) with "pk4 file" resulted in this link:
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Amodwiki.net+pk4+file

And in the first Google link, they'll tell you it's a ZIP file renamed to PK4.

I know I plug Modwiki far too much, but it contains a wealth of information and mostly directly on the topic you want. (Whereas a forum still contains more "noise".)

yeah, should've googled, but that doesn't help me, as that was the first thing I did; tried to open it with winzip and winrar (hence the subject).

thanks anyways... anyone know if the pk4's in etqw are suppose to be still zip files? or are they slightly modified zip files to prevent people tampering with it during the beta?

Ah yes, in this case the beta pk4 files were encrypted.
Again, Google is your friend if you really want to get a tool for it.

However, if the devs encrypted their files, they probably wanted that the data in it wouldn't be spread all over the Internet. That's also on of the reasons why there's no stuff specific for ET:QW is posted on Modwiki.
