'demonware_server.log' What to do?

I try to launch server against bots and get this error:

failed to open log file 'demonware_server.log'

running vista? just copy everything from your base "compatibility folder" back to the base(main) folder, that worked out for me.

check to make sure the \ is there in the file name...it dissapears and if the file name is wrong it won't work, so just fix it if its wrong.

i have only the german version but i think it's called somehow "comatibility*". anyway. IF you have vista then go to C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars Beta 2\base and copy everything in here to your quakewars installation directory base folder. should do the job, me hopes :)

edit: 32bit version - Program Files
64bit version - Program Files (x86)

you can also paste %userprofile% in the explorer and then just navigate as shown above

I've gotten one step further than you. I get a screen that allows me to setup a server to the network (at home) but I can't see it on the same pc. Any guesses on how to move forward? Thanks.

make sure that the file path that you're saving the server profile to has all the \'s and "s in it/around it, my mate had this and just going over all the settings and checking stuff etc where we had enterere "c:\program files\server" it had decided to change it to "c:program filesserver
and as such couldnt create/load the file

Now I can play computer trough main menu. Dont care about launching servers any more :)

This is the error message I keep getting... :(
I'm trying to run the dedicated server on Linux.

[EDIT]: Strange, running it as root works but why the hell it doesn't for a normal user although I changed the permissions (chmod, chgrp,...) for the whole etqw server directory accordingly...

Make sure the directory your fs_savepath (and fs_userpath) points at is writable by the process.

All I want is to host a LAN game and be able to play on it too. Can someone help me? I know many ppl have already posted about this stuff but I am eaily confused so if someone can explain to me as I'm a retard when it comes to this stuff.
