I'm just curious how many of you guys are looking to get a new rig once the game comes out or have you already got a new rig for the game? Maybe post what your looking at getting or what you already have..
This is is what my plan is:
CPU: Intel Xeon 3060 Conroe 2.4GHz
GPU: Nvidia 7950 GX2 (won it)
Mobo: ASUS P5N32-E SLI
Ram: haven't decided yet but 2 gigs of it
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 600W
Misc: Swiftech MCP655 (pump)

No need for me to upgrade, tho i did buy dual core couple months ago. Opteron 165 @ 2,8ghz, 2gb ram and 7900GT, but it's giving me artifacts so i'm sending it back, prolly getting some other card for replace.

I smell someone trying to brag.
It's quite common with rigs, they ask is it good enough even tho they know it has best components available and cost +3k. Maybe not in this case, but usually.
I'm going to hold on to my pc until the game is released. If the game is worth it, and if it wont perform well enough, I'll upgrade it.

My old GeForce 6800GT died last winter, so I bought a Radeon X1950 Pro which is a bit better, but not all that amazing. I've got a dual core AMD X2 3800 and 2GB of RAM, which should be good enough for ET:QW. I'm hoping that I'll be able to run the game at 1680*1050 and medium settings at smooth enough framerates, since I don't really want to have to upgrade just yet.
The New Rig I'm building:
ASUS Commando
Intel Core2Quad
Nvidia 7950GTX (Will upgrade to 8800, mebbe duals, soon.)
4gb of G.Skill RAM
Rosewill 550W SLI Ready (better be)

I don't know what you guys mean by "rig", but, if its the system required you're looking at then this should help!
Computer: Dell, Optiplex GX270
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU 2.66GHz
RAM: 1.50 GB
System: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Video Card: NVINDIA GeFORCE 7600
Geek Squad said that my 2 year old computer is better then the new one that just came out! And I've talk to one of the ID workers and they said that it would run perfectly!
Tristan, Rig, is basically the kewl way to say Computer. Instead of:
Guys my Computer is so BA
Its kewler to say:
Guys my Rig is BA
i have:
asus kv8 deluxe
AMD 3200+ 64bit
1gig pc3000 ram
nvidia 6800 gt 256mb
350w PSU
windows xp pro SP2
this is what im gonna own for a while... so it better be able to run it fine

Core 2 Duo E6320
2GB DDR2 RAM
GeForce 7900 GS 256MB
Recently bought it, wanted something up to spec but not too expensive as I don't play as many PC game anymore with the 360 around. I'll probably upgrade to an 8800 series later, no doubt will need to upgrade my 380W PSU thought too.

I bought parts for a new computer back in April so that I could play Oblivion on max settings and still get good performance. And so I could play some 2007/2008 releases I am anticipating (including Quake Wars) with high settings and good performance too. My specs are:
Intel C2D e6600
Geforce 8800GTS 640mb
2 GB RAM
SB X-Fi XtremeGamer
With that I hope to be able to play Quake Wars on high, if not max, settings and still always get 45 fps or more. Think I have a chance?

Not planning on upgrading unless I need to.
My AMD 2X 3800+ OCd to 2.2 GHz may need an upgrade, and if that does, then it is a new MoBo, RAM, and CPU. Something I don't look forward to.... :(

o screw u haha, i knew i forgot something :\

For QW that cpu should be pretty good, and i think you might be able to oc it more if it's needed.

Here's a question about running cards in SLI.
What exactly are the advantages of it?!
Also, must the cards running in SLI be identical? Sadly I think that my card, just after I ordered it, is no longer being made oO

The mobo has the 650i northbridge...
I was looking at the ASUS P5N-32E with the 680i, but 80% of the reviews I read were negative about that board, so I wussed out......

The link below can describe the SLI tech alot better then I can.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface
For me the realistic advantage of running SLI is that I for $200, I bought 2 cards that together will give me GPU power greater then any single 7 series Nvidia card, and I want to spend the money to get the sys built asap. The trick with SLI is the psu. Its best to buy one thats Nvidia SLI approved, otherwise you wont have enough amps going to your cards, and you'll get the blue screen of death. I'm going for overkill with the psu so I can upgrade the cards to 2 8800's if I want when I have the extra cash (read- when I win the lottery).
I built my current sys, but it's AMD based, and AGP. So no decent upgrading possible. I'm trying to build a sys that I can upgrade when neccessary, hence the P5N-E SLI mobo, it's quad core capable.
and yes, both cards must be identical.

Don't buy that P4, it's crapola. Get C2D. Also i don't recommend 2x 7600GS in SLI, it's not good either, get 8800GTS if you can afford.

True, the P-D just sucks compared to a C2D and buying two low-end cards is no good idea too ... buy yourself a 7950GT or better a 8800GTS.

Maybe Antec P150 or P180? 150 comes with NeoHe 430W which is brilliant power supply and gives more than promises. Or do you require some special case?

Yeah, good call. I just order'd the e6600 from newegg. But I'll stick with the 7600's 'till I can afford to upgrade......
Anyone wanna buy an unused Pent D 945 3.4G 800mhz Dual Core? :p

They arent that bad...lol. Just mid-range so I can get this pc built. ;)
Motherboards.org: XFX 7600GS XT SLI Video Card Review
"The XFX 7600GS is a good example of what kind of performance you can expect from a mid-level mainstream video card today. And, it's got decent performance as well. The card is on Newegg today for a price of $143, putting it squarely against a X1600XT in price category. XFX has overclocked their card to a very nice 500MHz; just 50MHz slower than the 7600GT and 100MHz faster than NVIDIA's reference clock. SLI performace is very solid and shows NVIDIA improving the SLI support and drivers."

Biostar TForce 550 (I don't like biostar either but a bunch of my friends have this board and it works great)
evga 8800gts 640mb
cooler master mystique (aka wave master II...already have)
xfi (already have)
klipsch 5.1 ultra (already have)
just waiting for my paycheck :)

I think that review is bit old, cheapest are 80 euros here. Also they aren't mid range anymore, they're low. I really suggest you to get card like 7900GS, it costs less and is more powerful.

I don't know if i will buy one yet. It depends on how well i can play quake wars. I need at least 70 FPS and at least medium graphix.
