Well if you want a server just to play on I think you just want to play with bots right?

With the new patch the "Play Computer" option now works. That should suit your needs.

And yes every server hoster is a genius ;)

There's a "serverauncher.exe" in your ET:QW directory. Simply doubleclick it, configure your server in the GUI and start it by clicking "Start Server".

What's your problem?

In case you're referring to the procedure of running a dedicated server on a linux box that doesn't have X11 installed: people who manage these things usually aren't afraid of the commandline. And there's startscripts to make things easier.

The server launcher is a nice little tool.

If, like me; you prefer to code your own config files etc you will need to have some experience of the games engine.

It does take a little time to learn, but really isn't rocket science.

If there is anything you are stuck with I'm sure others will be happy to lend their knowledge.

That way you don't need to flame on the forums because you don't understand how the engine works.

Didn't that answer your question? But i do think that a create server button is missing..

First of all, writing cfg files doesn't have much in common with coding^^. And you don't need to know how the engine works (since its closed source and only a few people know how it actually works.)

Not a JAVA coder I take it? :D

Seriously it's a small step from config files to compiling the hello world windows app in VC Studio 8.

If you call writing a hello world coding, coding and an open source won't help you to understand the engine either.

one reason why a lot of these things are done via command line in consoles or through a derivative of RconIT is that to have gui-based administration for servers built into the interface would consume too many resources on the host machine. also - a lot of the machiens hosting game s ervers are run on linux...which is mainly a command line interface, with gui support in the form of 'window/desktop' management utilities

there are quite a few good sources for the config and starting procedures already showing up on the internet.

if you don't have experience managing and configuring game servers...it can be a little confusing, but as has been said above - it ain't rocket science.

read some guides and get familiar with the way the servers are administered, then your learning curve won't be so steep and the thing will actually run
