Is it possible to higher the map roof?

It would be awesome if it was possible. It'd make a "Airwolf weekend" on my server:
- 8 tormentors spawned
- 8 anansies spawned
- no other vehicles allowed / spawned
- Roof high as hell.
- 16 slots on server

It would be f*cking awesome! :D

I'd expect 12 vs 12 to be a bit too crouded. Airvehicles need big spaces to turn and move around etc.

1 anansie and 1 tormentor is default on Valley. Try imagine + 14 air vehicles up in the air and fighting. It will be sick action even with 8vs8 I think.



Edit:

I just thought of something! It would be so awesome if you would make the jumpheight like 200meters, so you could jump into an anasie from ground, and 200meters up, and you would then COOP (shooting with MG) until your vehicle spawn again. Hahaha. :D Sweet!

I would also like to "unlock" the spawnplaces:
- GDF could spawn at both MCP spawn and in base spawn. 4 anansies in "MCP spawn", and 4 anansies in base-spawn. In other words, map begins with MCP already transported into its goal.
- Strogg could spawn at "hack-spawn" and at basespawn, with 4 tormentors in each place.

This way the vehicles would be more spread out:
- Spawnrape wouldnt be as easy.
- Less teammate-collitions when flying away from spawn


Is it possible to edit "valley.mapscript" and make it possible to spawn vehicles and teams like this?

Who could help me, edit the mapscript upon demo / full release of game?
Im not that good with editing mapscripts.
I can install them though. :)

its prolly possible in the future, right now the pk4-s are encrypted for a reason.
i would really like to be in one of these fights, ill prolly make one flier exclusive map.

Map ceiling is defined in the editor last time I asked.

Map script can change vehicle spawns, and activate certain spawns at anytime.

Well seeing as your going to be doing this after game's release why not make your own 'aircraft map'? Add spawn points across the map and provide plenty of places you can weave in and out of and fly through and that kind of stuff.

Heh, considering you just want flying I don't think ppl would care too much if the terrain was ugly. ;)

dont worry, ill make one, i think i should manage that. maybe someone could give me ideas, or should i leave it as a huge box with 8 flier spawns on each side for the fps experience.

I'll knock one up too, some mountains for cover keep the MT simple.
Then one of us could up the source as a template for others.

Your Scotland one would be cool, but maybe something with a few more mountains?

Maybe if you had 2 bases on each side and each team had to try to blow up the other teams base while defending their own would be fun. Kinda like baserace in a way.

Make a map of a giant forest so everyone has to fly around the trees and the players are the size of toy soldiers - AKA: Kung Fu Grip style.

Fog it up too so you never know where the enemy is until they are upon you.

Nice video!

Though, about number of air vehicles, the ones in your video wasnt fighting each other, so they didnt need lots of room to fight. Though, Im just guessing 8vs8 will be enough. First I thought of 12vs12, but then I remembered how much room just 1vs1 fights in air requires. I'd guess 4vs4 would fill upp most of Valley's air space I think actually. And 8vs8 would be filling up all air space, (when including 1on1 fight space, not only the physical space of the vehicle). :)

I think it's a scripted limit on the vehicle itself, not a map roof actually, as you can climb higher than vehicles can fly.

As for a lot of aerial vehicles on both sides at once, on Valley map, check this downloadable video.

i didnt see the video because i have a crappy internet but if somebody gets a private server up and has admin permission he could spawn as many vehicles as he like by running this command as admin

you can run it as many times as you want but turn it off after you spawn the vehicles if not you are going to have a lot of people using god mode :)

The problem is, if you spawn 10 vehicles, when they die, the vehicles wont respawn automatically. So you need 1 person to spawn vehicles for others.

but do the vehicle spawns work correctly, i saw it on the spawnable list. that mean that you have to wait 30sec after aircraft destroyed to get in one again, or make some spare vehicles if some cant wait.
like map limit of 16 players, 16 fliers on each side, 36 total. then everyone can get back in the air again ASAP.

yep there no way around that because you are not creating spawners for the map.

nope, not successful, it was the networkspawn deployable_spawn_[entervehiclenamehere] but no worky.

you got something wrong in there did you come up with that or did you alt tab that? none of the deployables vehicles work in the beta nor the airdrops. you need spawn a spawner it dosnt contain the vehicle name on the name it contains number. you have to quess wich number its the spawner you wanna use.

i pressed tab on networkSpawn and guessed the one saying deployable_spawn_vehiclename was the correct one, but what command are you referring to, i remember no networkSPawn selection with numbers.

its somewhere else there are 2 ways to spawn things networkspawn and spawn spawn has instances of spawn point but without names but with numbers. i coudnt get it to spawn neither.

then sorry about that i have read so much things on the cmd that i dont remember. the different between spawn and network spawn "quess" its that network spawn creates code in the server about the object so it can be tracked and spawn its and object only visible to the computer that created.

Thanks. Doing a remix of "Battle for Freedom", gonna add aircraft battles, voice chats, etc.

I plan on it being Episode 1, and to follow up with more episodes after the game is released, and I can do demos on more maps.:dance:

There is an artificial ceiling placed on aircraft that is set either in the map itself or in a script and is separate from the physical map boundaries.
