i ve seen that people have diffirent ranks. the more posts the higher your rank is. but i was wondering what ranks are available and how many posts do you need for that rank

i m just curious about that :P

Most forums have post ranks to show those who post more than others. The one negative is that people seem to compete for these ranks by posting none quality content just to get a post counted. No worries you will rank soon enough with good posts filled with questions, ideas, and what not which only add to the community. I read a question on another topic asking is the posting rank ties to you in game account. Although I am not an admin or mod here I can guess that 100% no they don't. Any rate have fun posting and welcome to the community.

yeah, they definitely have nothing to do with the game, but it is a cool feature that grabs players and keeps them on the forum boards. Stupid, nonsense posts come with any forums.

The attached image is all the current ranks. The posts needed to "level up" start at 10 posts, then gradually increases to 50 me thinks.
The two on the right are special ranks.
Hope that helps

As for being a lame thing to have, I do agree. However, it can make people keep on returning to the site, which is somthing we need while the game isn't released. We don't want a dead community before the games released!

It's better not to know what post counts you need to promote. That way, it comes more as a surprise. :)

(Note that I'm not for mindless spamming.)

Honestly, I hate ranks and user giveable karma systems. If there's going to be a karma system, it should be karma points given out by moderators or senior members of the community who are more or less impartial. The only thing that forum ranks based on posting leads to is spam and user-karma leads to people not being themselves and trying to karma whore with things that sound insightful but are just simply regurgitations of previously known stuff :p

The GTP forums have a system where after you receieve a positive acknowledgement, u get credit points. Once u have credit points, u can pass them on to other posters. Once u have enough credit points, u can enter in for competitions ect. to win prizes.

any sort of karma or ranking system will always be pointless seeing as people will always find a way to beat it to get on top.

using the "thank you" mod for vbulletin where you thank posts you find helpful would just clutter up the forums and you'd end up with newbies just thanking any old post even if it wasn't actually helpful etc.
