"You have been banned because YOUR VOICE IS SO HIGH IT MAKES MY EARS BLEED"
I'm 13, turning 14 in July. The Admin is 22. I join the Teamspeak, utilizing it for it's obvious advantages over typing. I open my mouth once and then, "OH MY GAWD R JOO LIKE 4 OR SUMTHING?!? U KNO WHAT I THINK THAT THERE IS A NEW NO KIDS RULE." This guy is sitting in the corner getting owned and you are on a 10 kill spree. He walks over, team kills you, and then the dreaded ban message appears. What is wrong with people? I had been playing on that particular server for months and this new guy feels like bullying a couple of people around. What kind of message does that send about that clan? This is one of many times this has happened (by the way this wasn't an adult server, in fact they had an auto-mute feature when you cursed). I have met many idiots like this and I have also met many children who are ranked #1 on their server or who are on an awesome scrim team. I am just curious as to why people do this. I have been playing games for a long time and it has always surprised me how immature adults can be (I have been in a similar situation with a forty year old).
What is your take on the issue? Do you play with kids? Why, why not? I would just like to know more about the gaming community's view on the issue.

Basically, its Jealousy. These people may not have anything else in life, except games, and to be killed by somebody half their age is just mentally harmfull. Well, I'm being harsh and very stereotypical, but 9 times out of 10, its the reason.
Just go with the flow. If you cant find any good servers/gamers, make a server or a clan with people you can trust.

I don't like high voices in teamspeak, too. Probably you should think about the people who are like 20 years old. They just don't want to hang out with 'children'. It's just a normal thin, in real life you wouldn't be accepted, neighter.
I would not react like this, but i would not go and hold for your hand, too.

I can play with kids, thats not a problem, and not all kids have an annoying voice (but still there are a few ones) sometimes is just fun to guess if its a girl or a boy.

I play with everybody who is mature, not in age but in behavior. There are 30 year old people behaving like little babies and teens acting better than adults. It depends on the person. As said above, just don't play with retards.

This is true. But it's just natural for older people to not like being/talking to kids especially under 15. I don't think anyone likes to hear a high pitched voice coming out of their speakers either.

for me at least it's nothing personal against kids playing games except it's highly annoying when they start squeaking on comms and god help you if you get a congrigation of them on the same channel and they're excited about something! just try and play with people your own age

In my opinion, Kids in PC games are fine. All the unbelieveably annoying kids are all playing Halo 2 on Xbox.
That said, Im 18, and mentally 12. So just because my voice is a little deeper wont make me speak more maturely. I know kids who are 12 and more mature than me. Its unfair to pick on people because of their voice. Funny, but unfair.

Is gaming and being an adult a bad combination?
Unfortunately, modern societys see it as incorrect. So, play games while your young and fit, then when your old and bored dont play games! Society rules!
I would rather be a kid playing on a game than an adult playing on a game, thats for sure!
It's time off from bills, work and other obligations. Some time to relax and clear your brain. The type of game may change but gaming suits everyone from 4 to 70.

Depends if they're parents lets they're children play some FPS games. And worst yet, Jack Thompson would try doing the same thing.

After some experiences I realized that most people around 13-15 (or even younger) are just "kiddies" who cant really play serious, are clanhopping or whatever. i know some nice people with that age, but tbh I dont want to play in one clan with them... in my clan I am the youngest one with 17 years and in contrast to my former clan (having some younger people in its lineup) communication in wars is much better and we can still have fun. :)

BS! its not always "Jealousy" some kids (even adults) have not attention span and couldnt find their way out of a wet paper bag! let alone when the guys I game with start in on their cursing, no chiled/kid under 16yo should be in the same game.
dont play with retards
What about WiiTards? :p

Don't even get near one of those. You never know when or how you will get an elbow or wiimote in your face.
It is a sad yet true fact that the majority of younger (16 and below or so) tend to be immature, whether it's clan hopping or cheating or just making an ass out of themselves. Having said this it should be noted that not all teens (or even lower) are tards, some of the best gamers I have known have been pretty young, and by "best gamers" I don't just mean skills at the game but also how they communicate and act. Every new player that you meet should be given the same chance, ragardless of their age, sex, ethnicity, origin or sexual orientation* (it's 2007, stop calling people f.aggots already).
*Unless they talk in caps and say "LOLOMGROFLMAOBBQLULZ", then you can pretty much burn them at the stake. Hell I'll provide the gasoline.

Frankly, I have no problem with getting owned by some kid. I have found that a trash talking "adult" can be much worse than the ego check of getting rolled by some whipper-snapper. Anonymity and the mass audience that online games provide can bring out the momos pretty fast no matter what their age.

I have always tended to play with older players even when I was 10 I would game with people in their 30s. (I am 22 now) but I totally don't care if you are 10 or over 60 so long as you're mature! However, my voice does tend to have a high frequency through Voice comms even though it is much lower in real life.

It really depends who you play with. I know some guys that I would not like to play with, and other guys are fine. It really depends who they are, but in general, I'd say it's not the best idea.

It all depends on the person and the server. I don't like servers where I have to hold my tongue for the sake of children on the server. On our own server the children just have to put up with our abuse, the younger clan members even get the pleasure of hearing us hurl expletives across the vent channel at each other. If I have to change my attitude or the way I get on then no I don't like it but when they're happily shootin me arse off and hurlin abuse like the rest of us I ain't got a problem.

Your welcome to join our server on 2.6b, no kids getting banned there :), we play with more than 1 kid on TS on RTCW and it has never been a problem.
I think servers should just be rated, "PG-PG13-T-R" if the server admins have a problem with kids, and that would certanly also avoid kids from talk they shouldnt be reading.
Anyway, PM me man and i will be glad to go frag on ET with you!
Dont suppose anyone here remembers natural selection. I'm 17 nearly 18 now, and i started that game when it first came out so i think that makes me... 13? Joined a clan when 2.0 was released, stuck with that clan for 4 years and now play wow with the same players. I joined that clan, i was 14, they were all older than 18.
This was also a highly competitive ns clan too, no.1 in australia for a while. Just goes to show, if your young it doesnt' really matter. Play the game, respect people and good things will happen.

I have no problem with young ppl (childs) playing or talking in teamspeak if! they behave good.
There are many adults behaving much worse then some childs.
We have a 14 year old in our clan (which was a mistake more or less, because the one who invited him didn't know his age). It's difficult sometimes (I helped him to install W:ET, it took 1hour) but he's ok.
He knows that ppl sometimes lough about his high voice or react a lil'bit childish to him, that also concerns him. But he's ok and nobody has a problem with him, so why not?
He has fun and we have fun. That's the thingy thing

I mostly believe it depends on the persons attitude, losing spree, killing spree, life span, ability to complete objectives, and skill that decide if they are (excuse my language) complete and utterly stupid. I have played with many people who don't have a GD clue what the objective is, have alot of skill, but the biggest losing spree (25), no killing spree, and a 30 second life span. This is a recipe for someone who is angry, but two of those ppl's attitude was just having fun (I know because it was me who was like that, along with someone on a computer right next to me).

Depends ...
On which game you want to play and in which country you live.
You should only play games that are suited for your age.
And this is mostly said by the government.
If you are 13/14 I think shooters aren't suited for you.

Well, my clan (Imsersus) only have ppl with 18+ years . Of course, we let enter in TS ppl with less age, but we want be a group with mature ppl.
And what about being owned by a child of 12 years? -no matter, we play competition, but first of all, for fun.

My voice didn't change until I was almost 16. So before that, I couldn't use Voice-comm while playing Team Fortress Classic because everybody would break up in laughter. They would assume I was < 10 and would never take me seriously. Once I already hit the mark, using VoIP didn't spark any remarks over my voice.

I don't mind who i play with but if i play with a kid who takes for nothing like for example about what he had for supper. Either im leaving the clan or he is. I dont have time for bullshit and i don't like high voices.
High voice=me leaving or him it annoys me to hear that
Talks for nothing about nothing=me leaving or him it annoys me to hear that
Those are my standards. I don't care if im in a crappy clan as long as there are no kids with a voice like a mouse.

The only advice I can give is to lie about your age if you wan't to avoid the risk of being badly treated.
I'm glad that there are atleast some people on these forums who doesn't care about the age.

I do think that people with a high annoying voice should stfu, I had one in my clan and just left the room he was in all the time, it really hurts your ears

Turn your speakers down. Or help the younger person with their settings, a lot of times the settings can make even the highest voice bearable. We have had several young kids in our clan at one time or another, and you know what it was the older people that acted like asses all the time and ran the younger ones who we never had a problem with off.

People tend to prejudge teenagers, but you seem to be ok. What I advise you is to first talk to people and spend some time in game or on the forums and once they get to know you they probably won't judge you based on your voice. If it still annoys them then just lower the sound input I guess.

I LMAO when I would squad up in 2142 and hear the squad leaders voice come over and sounded like they were breathing helium. Also getting yelled at by someone with the same voice sucks "Why didn't you revive me!".
Got a pretty tight group of us, all in our 20s to 40s.

it depends on the maturity of the kid, if he has a hi pitch voice but abuses it, by talking and talking and screaming and rambling on and stuff.. then yes.. they shouldn't be playing with a much more mature community, as for kids who can behave and know when to talk and not.. i have no problem with them

Reminds me of this one time most of the older people were acting more immature then the younger players you shoulda been there.
