Hi everyone

This is just a heads up for those that might be interested: we're taking pre-orders for ranked servers over @ Multiplay.

Our pricing details are now available and if you pre-order your server now we'll set up a beta server for you to play on until the release date absolutely FREE.

Once you've confirmed your order with payment (there are no minimum contracts) we'll set your beta server up right away but your payment period won't start until the day of release.

This means you will know your IP + port a month in advance so you can start pimping it now ;)

For those who haven't had a Multiplay server before, this is your opportunity to give it a try, with every server you get:

- Free voice comms with the same number of slots as your server
- Free PHP/MySQL webspace
- ClanForge server control - our powerful admin interface that lets you create unlimited config profiles and switch your server between them at will
- Technical support by Telephone, IRC and web 10am-10pm, seven days per week

If you want to know more about our offer head over to www.multiplay.co.uk/etqw (http://www.multiplay.co.uk/etqw).

This post is a little bit spammy and I apologise but there's probably loads of UK/European gamers here who would appreciate the heads up.

I'm also here to answer any questions you might have or queries about Multiplay clanservers - just post them here and I'll do my best to answer them.

Edit: By the way I'm loving  - that's funky :D

As an independent hoster with our own community funded colocation box, I dont believe in rankings nonsense. :p

1) I don't agree that we should be expected to pay for the privilege of hosting, admin'ing and supporting public servers which ultimately benefits the dev's, distributers and of course the hosting companies. but which actually doesnt benefit me or the community.

2) Ive seen what the similar thing did to BF2...which was pitiful tbh.

Just my opinion.

I did have a few ideas on how you might be able to tempt colocators like myself..but I'm not telling you. :p

With a ranked clanserver you obviously also get the option for unranked too.

Via ClanForge you create an unranked profile and switch your server to it - it takes seconds. Your server restarts automatically and you can join it as unranked. Want to go ranked again later on? Just switch the profiles back on ClanForge.

As for our dedicated servers we offer two options - managed and unmanaged. Unmanaged means you can do whatever you like (within our T&C - i.e no FTP servers) as it's your box. You get full access to it but you couldn't run a ranked server (as you would have access to the code).

Second option is managed which is basically a box with ClanForge on it and you have access to create as many servers as you like from our entire list of supported games - ET:QW ranked included but dont have remote desktop/FTP access - you can only access it via ClanForge.

finally for co-locators we're very flexible - you should talk to us if you're interested, we'll be more than happy to find a way of meeting any specific needs you have. :)

are you trying to seduce me!!

:p

My point was not so much running ranked as opposed to unranked, but rather the division of ranking which requires "trusted" GSP's.

Any which way the stats dont really add up to a lot IMO other than a bit of fun that the novelty wears off. I knwo it will appeal to a lot of people at first, but I think in the short run, people will realise its a bit of a pain when you balance the offside of it. I loved getting the odd medal and weapon unlock when BF2 came out..but it soon started getting silly.

Anyway..I realise this is offtopic, and not really the place for venting my opinion on this subject. :D
