I have a very serious question.
Its about the performance of the upcoming quake wars.
But one step after another: I was really looking forward to this game, could call me a ET:QW addict.
I even bought a new PC just because of beeing prepared for this game.
But then the Public Beta 1 came and i was totally shocked by the bad performance. I have a Geforce 8800GTS and an Athlon X2 4600+ and the game runs with only 30-40 FPS in combat situations (in the base without combat i have more than 90 fps). So i was really disappointed you can imagine.
But I didnt play Beta 2 which came out few weeks ago. Now im looking forward to the Demo beeing released tommorow.
My question is: Did the developers improve the performance since Public Beta 1? I heared many with even better systems than i have had the same performance problems in public beta 1. Any one who played Beta 2 can tell me if the perdormance improved???

Tomorrow, all questions will be answered...except for questions about other maps and campaigns and stuff. Okay, all questions won't be answered tomorrow, but some of them will.

My god,
topic is enough for me, didn't even have to read the post...

After Beta1 there was a Beta2.
After Beta2 they went gold.
And if you participate in a BETA you should know what a BETA is and what it means. SD states in several posts what a Beta is.
It is NOT COMPLETE.
Of course they fixed performance problems, not only from Beta1 to Beta2 but also to Gold and Demo...

There was a performance increase between Beta 1 and 2, as much as 30% for some people. They reduced the minimum specs if you notice, between the beta 1, and the demo, because it's been further optimised.

But another thing to consider though, is that an X2 4600 is a budget CPU by todays standards, so shouldn't expect top performance from a brand new game. But you should still get about 40-60fps I imagine in the demo, it's free anyways so why not give it a go!

Surprisingly, it has actually improved.

But still, the secret is to set:
com_unlock_timingmethod 0
(default 2)

Whoever thought it'd be better to have a constant 30 fps instead of a fluctuating 30-50 fps, was very wrong, in my experience.

EDIT: but the jerkiness is pretty much the same, mind you. This has nothing to do with FPS.
