Hi,

My system:

P5B Deluxe
E6400
2x1GB PC6400 DDR2
EVGA 7900GTX w/ today's 163.67 Forceware beta
74GB Raptor HD
2x 20" Dell 1680x1050 LCD in DualView

Everything is stock, nothing is OC'd.

So I got a fast download of the demo and installed it. When I start it up, I noticed that mouse movement in the main menu UI is EXTREMELY laggy. Like, touch the mouse, and see the cursor jump a second later.

I started up a Play Computer game and in-game performance was worse. Like 1-2 frames per second.

I immediately quit the game and uninstalled my display drivers, which were (at that point) the most recent WHQL Nvidia Forceware. I downloaded the beta drivers (163.67) released today. I restarted the PC in safe mode and used Driver Cleaner Personal to remove everything Nvidia. I restarted and installed the new beta drivers, then restarted once again.

The framerate/lag issue was unchanged. It sucks. Same with in-game. I immediately set the graphics preset option to Low, although I kept the 1680x1050 16:10 resolution. Restarted game and no improvement.

What am I missing? I didn't play either of the betas; this is my first experience with Quake Wars. Thanks.

EDIT:: Let me add that I play 1-2 hours of BF2142 at 1680x1050 with all settings on High daily, and also played through Bioshock on this system at approximately the same level of GFX settings, ALL with no performance problems whatsoever.

Preliminary answer: the demo is not dual monitor-friendly.

I disabled DualView and unplugged my 2nd LCD. I now have one LCD running 1680x1050 at 32bit over DVI and the game runs fine. ALT-TAB also seems to be disabled. Hopefully the full game's not like this...

EXACTLY the same issue, laggy ui before even going into the game, i know for sure its not an issue with not being able to run the game as I play bioshock/bf2/graw2 and many other pretty graphics intensive games.

6600 core2 duo
7950 GX2
2gigs ram
xp pro64
latest nvidia beta drivers

edit: im running dual monitors, which is fine with every other game i play

The game is also not alt-tab friendly, which is a real annoyance.

Sounds like everybody confirming my amateur diagnosis that the game doesn't play with dual LCDs, at least with the DualView config I had. First game I've had such trouble with.

There are quite a few threads here on this topic and also on unlocking your framerate. You dont need to unplug/disable your 2nd monitor.

Make sure its advanced view.

Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > multidisplay/mixedgpu acc

set this to single display performance mode.

I've not tried it in ETQW yet but in Quake 4, Doom 3, Quake 3... you use press ALT + Enter to go to your desktop and same combination to go back in full screen

Setting it to single display does work, but I found overall better performance gain by just unplugging my second monitor. Less than ideal though.

The single monitor performance pretty much fixed it for me. I haven't tried seeing if there is a difference fully disabling the other.

Oh, I'm pretty sure the latest Nvidia beta drivers have ETQW settings in them, to help this out. If not, add them in :]

ill confirm that for me it doesnt work :D

makes it better yes. Now i dont constantly get it umping around from 30-60 all the time. However once i see a group of people i get about 30 fps (be it from 120fps right down to 30) and really...that shouldnt happen with what i'm running it on

AMD X2 6000+ Duel Core
8800 GTX 768MB
4GB Kingstom DDR2 Memory
Windows XP

Every other game i play is fine...just this being terrible
