GL_ARB_occlusion_query error on Notebook ATI Catalyst 3.7

Heya,

I was trying to run this on a Notebook with Catalyst 7.7 Drivers installed on Vista 32bit.

I can't get newer drivers because my Notebook manufacturer doesn't have any.

The Omega Drivers seem dead.

I tried installing the ATI Hotfix but I'm not sure it installed properly on these drivers.

I get the following error when the game is trying to start up:

ERROR: The current video card / driver combination does not support the necessary features: GL_ARB_occlusion_query
********************


My questions are:

1. is there any way to disable use of GL_ARB_occulsion_query in the game via a command line switch or config file change
2. can I get newer drivers for a notebook with a mobility radeon x1600 somewhere?

I solved the problem.

There is a Patcher tool that converts every official ATI Catalyst driver to a driver suitable for laptops.

Step 1: You download the official 7.9 driver from ATI and extract the files to whatever Location you like (just start the EXE and let it extract the files, then after that step is done cancel setup)

Step 2: Now you tell the Patcher tool where you extracted those files to and press Modify.

Step 3: Once it's done you start the setup.exe in the directory where you extracted the files to in step 1 and proceed with the driver installation.

You should be able to install 7.9 that way on every laptop with a mobility radeon.

I tested this on Vista 32 with my Mobility X1600 and it works perfectly.

This lap top came with some HD2400 video card...is that a mobilty card. I guess it is but it doesnt appear in the mobility section of ati

Just download the ATI drivers for the real graphic cards (no matter which of the newer cards you choose, e.g. X1800, you get to the same driver) and patch using the instructions I gave you.

It should work!

I bought today Toshiba P200-16V laptop with ATI 2600 but it wouldn't work with normal ATI 7.10 drivers. I had that message

Help!!
I've downloaded the newest version of ATI 7.10 with my ATI HD2600 pro vid card for my XP pc, but still can't play the game.

I've spent hours now searching the net for a solution, made more than several posts regarding the error and have found NUMEROUS ways to fix it, but nothing that's similar to my computer.
