I'm having the same problem. I've disconnected my joystick, checked all my drivers are up to date, restarted numerous times but still no luck.

Anyone else having this problem?

I am having a similar problem. I can start the game, go to play against the computer and if for any reason go to a menu such as the limbo menu or to quit the mouse is completely FUBARed. It roams all over but where I want it to go and if I just let it rest then it sits in the upper left corner, in either case the only way I can leave the game is to ALT-TAB-DEL to bring up the task manager to quit. This is a real 'buy killer' for me.

I am using a Logitech MX-1000 and this is the first game where this has happened so I suspect it something to do with the demo.

EDIT: After searching the forum, I found that several other people have been having this problem, one with an Intellimouse 2.0, another with a Logitech so it does not seem to be confined to model or manufacturer.

I am actually having a completely different mouse proplem, but might as well keep them all in one thread.

Basically, when trying to scroll (in either direction) to change weapons, the weapon selection box does not even appear without some serious scrolling. Actually changing the currently selected weapon takes even more effort, if it even works at all.

For some reason, I have to complete at lease 5-8 complete rotations of the wheel before my single scroll registers, making quick weapon selection impossible.

I have had no problems with any other games, the mouse being brand new, and there are no problems in the desktop either, and changing the sensitivity, vertical scroll speed or acceleration options yeilds no change.

It's a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 v1.0

Mouse goes to top left corner and is very difficult to manuever to the quit button.

I'm going to try another mouse - if that doesn't work I'll do what I do with other games that are going to obviously be rushed games and never look back. Game companies need to stop getting fan boys that are 18 that will say everything is fine or not give input whenever they run a beta - they need REAL testers.

Not to mention, what's this crap about an fps cap? If that's true I'm done also.

2nd mouse attempt after reboot, same.
Removed drivers, tried each mouse again..same.
Mouse goes to top left corner and stays there. Almost like it's horribly calibrated gamepad or something.
ODD.

I have the same exact problem. Mine however goes to the bottom left. I did a complete update of my mouse drivers and even its firmware. I have a Logitech G5 mouse. I really want to play this demo badly, but no such luck :(

I've just remembered that I've got a PS2 usb adapter plugged in to my PC under my desk - totally forgot about it as I've not used it in a while.

I'm at work at the moment so I'll try unplugging that as well as my joystick later on to see if that works.

There are 2 confirmed Vista users so far and no confirmed XP users. Do the rest of you guys have Vista, too?

I have actually discovered the cause of my scroll wheel difficulties, and I hope it can help some of you guys.

Basically, I tried plugging my mouse in via my USB to PS/2 adapter and now scrolling has returned to normal. I have no idea whether having a USB mouse somehow contributes to the problem, but if you have an adapter lying around, consider giving it a try.

I'm using Vista Ultimate x64, just for the record.

Using a G5 plugged into a USB 2.0 port running XP, and have the same problem... Mouse goes up and left. A lot of us are having this issue with the G5 and G7 mice.
I believe that Logitech made a big mistake and have never fixed their Setpoint software so that it is actually usable without having to download 3rd party software to make it work somewhat correctly. It amazes me that developers and manufactures pay so little attention to detail, but they sure make their products look pretty.... I guess that's more important than making it actually work.

For anyone that has a USB joypad adapter and possibly anyone that's using a gamepad or a joystick:

Remove the USB adapter from within the hardware control panel and the joysticks will be removed from the configuration application.

I've had this problem on several games, when my pads have been removed or sitting idle and ET was no exception.

Removing the actual device from within the hardware device settings is the easiest option and solved my problems for ET also.

Good luck. ;)

By the way, I'm also using a logitech with setpoint and this had nothing to do with the mouse scrolling to the bottom, for me at least.

With my configuration

Win XP
Core 2 Duo
7600 GT
Logitech MX310 (connected to USB)

the same thing happens. The mouse moves to the lower right corner all the time in the menus. There is nothing else plugged in via USB and I don't have any other hardware that I could remove. During the game itself everything works nicely.

For the record I use a Logitech G7 and previously used a G5/mx510 etc etc.

There really is no need to have the setpoint drivers actually installed. The mouse will operate quite nicely (sensitivity adjust buttons included) without setpoint being installed. Generic mouse drivers work just fine and there is no loss of accuracy.

If you're convinced setpoint is the problem for you, back up your settings and remove setpoint. Your mouse will continue to work as a generic pointing device and you shouldn't lose too much functionality (if any).

i had the same problem with ET wolfenstein, i was able to start the program but once i was in the menu my mouse went to te upper right corner and when i moved my mouse the arrow just did a few shocks to all sides but didnt move anywhere, and i am using a hama optical mouse witch i never had any problems with, but i'm kinda sure that this peticular problem has nothing to do with the mouse but with something else. knowing that this problem accures with loads of people, i am becoming more and more desperate for a solution for this problem

I'm using Logitec MX-518 and my mouse is drifting in the game menue and in the limbo menue to the upper left corner. Impossible to select any options. However in the game itself there is no problem at all. What is strange is that this bug isn't happening always.

I'm running Vista home premium and all drivers are up to date.

Same probleme here with mx518 + winXP , but it isnt a mouse problem ...

So I searched and found that disabling HID-compliant game controller in Device Manager solves the problem.

You have to reboot after disabling...

Hope this will help you.

I have a very odd delay or lag in mouse movements, both in menus and in game.

Logitech Mx518 - default XP drivers
Geforce 680i motherboard - latest drivers
8800GTX factory OC - latest drivers
2GB Corsair Dominator - not OC
1000W Coolermaster PS
2ms VX922 19" lcd

I don't think it's due to lack of power and there's no delay in other apps. ?

EDIT- Unplugged my gamepad and it seems to be slightly slightly improved but still not playable.

I have a very odd delay or lag in mouse movements, both in menus and in game.

I call it "UnderWater Mouse" & it is a known problem with BF2142 too. Unplugging my Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick from a forgotten USB hub resolved the issue. Though using the Joystick for Aircraft in game would be nice, IIRC it worked for older battlefield games. Seems to be a USB bandwidth issue with games based on this engine.

i was thinking about getting ETQW, and decided to fire up the demo again to see if the mouse problem had been resolved after getting a new mouse and drivers for it.

once again, as soon as i hit the opening menu my view / mouse cursor drops constantly towards the bottom of the screen, making it impossible to continue.

yes, i am using a usb mouse, a Logitech G25 wheel, and a Saitek X52 flight controller.

i'm sorry, but IMHO i should NOT have to disconnect every other damned usb device just to play this game, and this is the ONLY game i have this problem with.

i was just checking in to see if this had been resolved / fixed in the retail game before considering buyiing the game?

thanks,
CD

AFAIK it hasn't been fixed. I used to have this problem once in a while in XP when my Saitek X52 was plugged in, but now that I've moved to Vista, I can't get my mouse to work at all in ETQW. This only applies to when I'm on the menus.

I dont know if this problem has been fixed or not, but I may have found a fix to stop the need to unplug joysticks, I've had problems with other games where the cursor drifts to a corner, or the character im controlling drifts into the corner & stays there, speedball 2 was the most recent, but had it with other games.

I have a dual ps2 to usb joypad adaptor, but I only have 1 joypad plugged in & I use the generic windows driver, in the game controllers section in the control panel of windows, there is 2 dual usb-psx adaptors listed. I noticed that the one that had no joypad plugged into was stuck in the corner instead of being centered, so I calibrated it just by clicking ok at every step, with no joypad plugged in still, & now everything is fine, no more drifting in speedball 2, & I just loaded etqw & have full control over my mouse.

So basically configuring a controller that doesnt exist fixed it ;), hope this helps someone.
