Can't play online

Punkbuster and game both up to date... when i click "play online" it loads for half a second then says Canceled... anyone know how to fix

nope.. its checked off in the exceptions list.. that was the first thing i checked

Then I cant help. I don't know what you would do in that case. Maybe someone else will come along shortly and help you figure it out. The demo is great. You'll like it. ;)

yeah i play other online games... i can still connect to Bf2/2142 and i plau EQ2 on a regular basis... just can't connect to ETQW ... can play the singleplayer version .. .which is alright for getting used to the weapons, and i do enjoy it so far... but its just not the same as playing online ...

Try opening these ports :

Incoming:
UDP: 27733
UDP: 3074
UDP: 33060-33070

Outgoing:
TCP: 3074

dont know if this will help. i think i had the same problem at you. took me 4 hours of messing around to get it to work. go to my documents\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars Demo. next go into base\etqwconfig. open it with wordpad.

then make sure you have these two configs

seta net_serverPunkbusterEnabled "1"
seta net_clientPunkbusterEnabled "1"

then go to sdnet/profile name/base/profile and do the same thing.

worked for me after that. for some reason i still can't connect using the "play online" button, but instead i use this.

Sadly I am having the same problem as the OP.. I tried the above mentioned fix but still nothing. Even though that program gives me a list of servers it tells me they are all running a different version then me.

aye.. says the same thing for me...all the servers off of the client say ... running different version

A quick fix is to use the Play On Lan part and then use the Direct Connect and type the server Ip in. That is the only way I can play online. I have the same problem.

I am running XP SP2
Linksys router (With ports open)

try going here and clicking on the "join server" button. it should directly connect you to the server.

if that works, you can just use the server list at the top of the page to connect to any server you want.

i think the only reason the server viewer worked for me at first was because my clan kept the same ip for the beta and the demo. the server viewer is still only showing beta servers.

this will uninstall/re-install and test the pb services

you are lucky... i dont know play online. because the browser and the direct connect not work for me....

all firewall and antivirus off
xp sp2 32bit
all ports open...

the funy in this thing on september 10 i look in the browser 1000 server afte get the new list and i play 6 hour without disconnect

at this day i look 1 server only after new list and i dont know connect to this 1....


the best answer for this problem:

In your server browser, is the 'Source' drop-down displaying the word 'Internet'? If not, that could be it.
