Anyone else have this issue? I connect to my server via Remote Desktop and click on serverlauncher.exe and It comes up with the serverlauncher.exe has encountered a problem. even the etqwded does the same thing to me..
Anyway to get around this???

no..it wont be the remote desktop though..I use the RDP on W2k server, which is the low colour version , unlike the 2k3 one.
I am not going to try and second guess this one too much as there really isnt enough information to go on....but in answer to the info you have given..
No, there are no issues running this over rdp.
Can you update with as much info as you can as per the environment you are running and how you set it up.
eg.
1) can you run it on the same machine without RDP? if not, you cant say its RDP. Try dameware or VNC to go direct to the desktop if you are connecting remotely. VNC/Dameware run happily along with RDP. Dameware especially kills the cpu and ram though. Be aware also if you are using the free versions, they have rudimentary security. VNCit prob your best bet.
2) have you installed it for all users.
3) what OS.
4) listen/dedicated?
etc

Might sound a little overkill but how about setting up a scedualed task to run the server in 5 minutes? disconnect your session and hope the system auto runs it for you locally?

I doubt its RDP, sounds corrupted tbh, or the windows install is missing something.
Can you check your eventlogs, when it comes up with "..has encountered a problem..." and get the detailed event log info.

Welp.. I figured it out.. It wasn't RDP.. It was something with the system I was using.. No matter what I did ET:QW would crash with no log file to see why. I used a different system to run it via RDP and its works fine.. So I think its was something with my hardware in that system.. :(
But it works now and works great!

Welp it was running in Windows XP Pro SP2 with all the latest patches and it would just crash. I even installed windows XP home and it crashed. And even winxp pro sp1 and it did the samething. I changed video cards, added sound card and all. It would just crash.. The server was running just the 1 HD, video card and 2 CD drives.. thats all.. But really.. the OS was acting funny anyways.. So makes me think my Motherboard could be going bad.. :(
