Ok, so I made a post earlier about this. I have a really fast computer, and I was getting complete crap FPS. Thanks to those who responded.

First off, if you are running dual monitors, turn the secondary off. It will slow the performance down more than ANYTHING. You shouldn't even need to update the drivers.

I downloaded the new nvidia drivers anyway, and it did some weird sh*t, so don't update your drivers with the ones released today unless you try turning off dual monitor first. After I rebooted, I looked at a black, non functional desktop for about 2 minutes...I was about ready to break my f*cking keyboard, and then just before I put my fist through my LCD, the desktop came up.

Anyway, just figured I'd make a formal post about turning off dual monitors.

a forum moderator should probably sticky this too. it would help not to have to forum crawl in order to fix the FPS issue.

just a thought.

It really work... change a near-impossible to play game into a smooth wonder ( well for my system...)

It was like that for me in both Beta, and now the demo, probably in retail too...Well , i don t care about it, as long as i have a smooth game

Thanks for this great game...again...lol

INFO OBTAINED FROM 'etqwplyr'

Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > multidisplay/mixedgpu acc

set this to single display performance mode.

the above works great.. got dual mon back setup again :D

This problem/fix only applies to nVidia cards by the way. ATi has a different way of managing dual-displays that doesn't affect 3D performance nearly as much.

Thx for the warning it really takes up an insane amount of ram and cpu when you don't turn it off

great coding

There's already a sticky here: http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8598

Note that you DO NOT have to physically unplug or disable the second display. Setting "single display performance" for ET:QW as described in the sticky should have the same effect, while allowing you to continue using the second display.
