View Full Version : Linux server does not go past warm up round... HELP!
I have read every post in here and I am sorry if this is a double post but there seems to not be a fix regarding this on my end. I really hope there is a fix the Quake developers can come up with.
My kernel is 2.6.16.33-xen on Debian
I hear some even get this issue with 2.6.8
Should I really look in to updating it if some with higher kernels crash as well?
Should I wait for a fix?
The error message is the same as everyone else's with the "FATAL ERROR: idClip:: DeleteClipModel called from a thread other than the main thread"
Do you think it is a server setting I can toggle?
I had the same problem with BETA 2 as well. :(

do you have v3 of server?
The server hangs up on both, waiting for players to do ready and straight warmup-countdown ?
Yes I got the v3 version
Yes it counts down with the timer then when at 0 the error message "Shutting down server"
It happens with some Quake older games as well I read.
Any other options to try ?

I'm having the same issue.....
running 2.6.8 deb
What the F do we do about it? I think its a server setting we can change that does not require the file that this error is happening. I need to know if people are working on this or if I should go to my provider and tell them to try and fix it.
What do I tell my provider to do? Obviously doesnt need an update 2.6.8 is down as well. Is Debian the problem? Damit another day waiting lol...please help us.

@nt1: There really don't seem to be many people having issues using a post-2.6.8 kernel. The only thing I can think of is trying to use a non-Xen kernel. By the way: you're not trying to run the ETQW server inside a VM, are you?
I am using a vps server. can this be the reason? so is there a fix for this?
What is a VM and are you sure this is the issue?

VM = virtual machine = the equivalent of your vps. Yes, this can definitely cause these kinds of problems. You'd have to contact TTimo to learn the ins and outs, but I wouldn't be surprised if the server just does not run in a Xen vps (I've got no experience with Xen, so I can't help you with that, alas).
