hey I need to get a new mouse. well, I don't NEED one, but I want one. I am using the logitech G7 right now. I really like it but I want to use the wireless mic from the x-box 360, and other wireless items, on my pc. They are both wireless though and step on each other and then do nothing. so I want to get a wired mouse I was looking at that Microsoft Habu, the one that's made by Razer. Does anyone here use, or have used, one? Anyone have any advice/ suggestions? The Habu I have seen has some complaints about drivers, but Ive seen that about other Razer mice too and I have friends that don't have any problems with them. So what do you guys think?

Wireless mice are a real pain in the a** in my opinion. If the battery runs low or the wireless signal gets interference, you've got a useless mouse. Wired ones are just much more reliable.

I'm using a Razer Copperhead and I love it. Google some reviews for it, they're all very positive.

well that's one of the reasons I loved the G7 it has 2 battery packs and a charger, so if you are running low you can change it out like an ammo clip. I've never really had any kind of interference problems, but I do if I try to use any of my wireless xbox stuff. The mouse just dies and then I have to reboot most of the time to get it running again. From what I have seen the Habu seems to be almost the same as a copperhead, but with Microsofts logo on it. Just a few other minor differences between the two.

I use a Razer Copperhead and I've had no issues what so ever. That said reading on the Razer Blueprints forums (http://razerblueprints.net/) there seems to be a lot of people that has problems with it.

The drivers aren't all that great but then again no mouse drivers are. You don't have to use them either, if you can do without the scripting etc. It's possible to just install them, program the profiles in the mouse (DPI, sens., buttons etc.) and then just uninstall the drivers. Those settings are kept in the mouse itself (no macros though).

Overall I can't find anything to complain about with this mouse. Had it over a year now and it's great. I'd recommend you check out those boards that I mentioned earlier, they have a lot of info if you interested in these mice.

picking a good mouse depends mainly on personal preferences. the best way to decide would be to go into a store and try out the mice on display

if i had to choose, id go with a logitech g5, but if it doesnt suit you, dont get one

I use the Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 and I find it great personally - it's got a nice thin cable so you don't notice it as much, dedents on the wheel unlike non-gaming mice, the main buttons are responsive, it has two extra buttons on the sides (exactly where I like them) and I find the optical sensor is responsive and accurate.
I've used a friend's wireless Logitech before (rust effect, G6?) and I found it terribly heavy in comparison.

My advice: try before you buy wherever possible. If you have friends with different mice, give them a run before you splash out if you can.

If you love the g7, why not go with the g5. Its just the wireless mouse...

Its that or a razor, but if you know you like the g7. I'd get a g5.

Should check out this mouse report that Toms Hardware did a while back... Mouse Hunt Report (http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/09/12/the_ultimate_mouse_hunt/index.html)

I'll just copy and paste the concluding post though if you can't be bothered going through it.

Expensive, But Worth It

Expensive, But Worth It

Obviously we can only come to one conclusion - what you should buy is either the Logitech G5 or the G7. They're by far the best mice currently on the market for games, graphics work or any other activity on a PC. But they are very expensive. If you only play games occasionally and you're on a tight budget, the Microsoft Comfort 3000 is a viable alternative. Gamers without deep pockets can fall back on the Logitech MX 518 or Razer Diamondback, or the Saitek Gaming Mouse if you're really broke.

But this article is only the first round, since we're expecting the Razer Copperhead, which uses the same sensor as the Logitech G mice, and the Genius laser, which also reportedly uses it, at any time now. And we're also impatiently awaiting the first laser mice from Microsoft.

I don't like cordless mice because the docking stations \ batteries annoy me too much. I've owned a Razer Diamondback and now a Razer Copperhead. The sensitivity and customizability are fantastic. Never really had problems with drivers either. I've heard the Razer Deathadder is also quite a good option albeit sporting only a right-handed profile.
If cords annoy you Razer also offer the Razer Armadillo to roll them up.

Have to say that I'm never going back to Logitech for gaming accessories.

I have a G7 also and I know it cost me like $70. How much would another wireless mic cost? I ask because it might be more economical to buy another wireless mic. In that case you would have one for your Xbox and one for the pc, instead of having two mice.

I have a Logitech MX1000 Cordless mouse and it's fantastic. I'm a FPS hardcore gamer and lag, ergonomics, response time, accuracy and performance are my priorities and this mouse rocks... I have it for over a year and nothing can't compare to it. Take it from someone who changes hardware like underwear :D

It's rechargeable and I have never ran out of batteries.

I have a pile of corded mice grabbing dust thanks to this mouse ;)

I think some people are getting away from the fact that I said I want a NON-wireless mouse. I need something with a wire so that I can use my xbox 360 wireless items with it. I do like wireless, but I need a wire so that I don't have interference.

well i've tryed many diffrent mice in my days, both wired and wireless.

i've tryed everything from a cheap ball mice to an expensive 100$ mouse.

i've had both logitechs, Microsofts and Razers mouses on my pads and i can say that i don't like the microsofts.

the logitech mice are really good! i loved my Mx1000 it was great! the Mx51X series i did not like cause of how they layed in my hand.

and now razer... i can say i didn't like razer at all last year. But this year something changed, i got myself a Razer Death Adder.

This mouse blowed me away! first of all it looks great(not cause it really matters but anyway) and then all good part of it, rubber coated surface for the whole hand(feels nice and you get a firm grip) the placement of mouse buttuns 4&5, the feel in game, the optimiseing features and that it is VERY light weight! and it feels GREAT in my hand, fits perfectly.

Althou in the beginning you will hate it, cause it weighs almost nothing(compared to the Mx1000) but after a while you'll realize that it's good that it's not as heavy as other cause you movement speed accelerates! The response of the razer is great and it has never failed, and to be honest, i've actually gained a better KDR after my razer death adder purchase!

so i can just say get the Razer Death Adder. (http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=43)

and also heres a great review of it: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/deathadder/

I agree Razer Copperhead is a great mouse. I must admit it took me a few days to get uses to how my hand would lay on it. With having used Razer mice for two years now I simply love their products. In my opinion Logitech's mice have been good but don't hold up for some reason. However they hold the keyboard market with their G15 hands down. For me a Razer mouse and G15 and you have an outstanding set up.

I use a G7 also. Best mouse I've ever had, and for those that knock wireless... bet you never used one for any length of time. The only bad thing about it is the missing 2nd thumb button that were on previous Logitech mice.

I'll never go back to a wired mouse ever again.

the quality of razer is just shit.just have a look at the cable it's crap and it will brake easyily also the drivers have some troubls with usb ports

now i have a logitech mouse for the first time
it's the new G5 and it's really really good
very good performance,very good quality

i worked at a mediamarkt (bisggest electronic market in eu)
and we had tons of razer coming back

logitech is no1 company in pc peripherials

I haven't heard of razer giving people any troubles. You might of just got a dodgy one... but razer + logitech are both very good. Very solid brands, so pick either. Doesn't matter but both logitech and razer's top end mice are very solid and quality.

Drugs are bad, mkay?

Just kidding. I guess Logitech does have slightly better drivers and better support than Razer, since they're in the business for way longer. Logitech definitely has very good stuff, too, but I personally find a lot of the more sophisticated Logitech mice (ones with lots of buttons) very uncomfortable, mainly due to being too high up. My old MX518 got me lots of easy frags in Counter-Strike, but I'd get serious pains in my hand from it. :(

I also used various Microsoft IntelliEye Explorer mice in the past. I liked them quite a lot. Their latest one actually uses Razer technology, afaik, but I haven't bothered checking it out since I find my Razer Copperhead near perfect.

The Copperhead's cable isn't perfect, but to me it's not an issue since I use a soft mousepad (Everglide Titan) which has a bit more friction than a plastic or glass one. The friction is just right for me - the cable doesn't push or pull the mouse in any direction, but it also doesn't require too much force to move the mouse around.

either the g5 or the mx518 in my opinion...i love the weights you can put in the g5, so if you like a light mouse or heavy one for the unsteady hand, you can do both with it...i have been using my mx518 most recently, love this thing

its all persional preference.

Ive been a razer fan since my first boomslang. Ive owned 2 diamondbacks that i loved (still have one of em) and now i have the copperhead which im happy with. Ive never had any software issues except for with Q3... if i move the mouse too fast the left mouse button wont register to shoot (intermittent though, only happens sometimes and only with that game. Ive heard the G5 also having issues with Q3 too.)

I will probly be getting the deathadder soon also cuz i want to see what its all about :)

MX518 here. Got it like in March '05 I think, still super awesome solid reliable winner.

If I was to get another mouse I'd probably get a G5 - basically the MX518 2.0 from what I hear. I had the option of getting a Razer, but from what I read the Logitechs were better and I don't like the Razer's design.

If its for an Xbox though... I wouldn't know. Does that new Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000 mouse work on Xbox? (Worst name ever). It's wireless with a USB wireless thing and its MS, so it might. What's cool is it's small and it has a remote - don't know if you got the Xbox remote, but using 1 peripheral is always nice. It also has a laser pointer, so you can annoy people with it, which should be a requirement for any piece of hardware.

Logitech buttons are programmable... and why be so lazy? I pride myself in being able to press the mouse button multiple times, and keep on target.... granted who needs a 3xfire button, when guns shoot 16 bullets a second? Unless you were on Counter Strike:Source with Dual .45.

Though that is a useful feature.... but not a plus.

I think that he means that the most expensive doesn't always mean the best (though, obviously in many cases it does), and that cheaper mice (I mean cheaper, rather than "cheap") can match or even exceed the performance of their more expensive counterparts. The A4techX7 that he mentioned came sixth overall in that link that I gave above, and the best performer was actually the Logitech MX500 (admittedly overclocked).
