Myself (XVI the Great) and my friend (Fretless Arcade / Chris) have a plethora of great memories and funn ymoments from playing ETQW, usually brought on by the unintentionally silly bot A.I.! Here's some great memories:
Failing multiple times on the first objective while attempting a Slipgate speedrun. Sometimes, Chris would forget where to drive the Armadillo and drive straight towards the Slipgate, or another time there was an Oblitaggressor simply camping for Chris and took him out. One of the funniest moments was with the over-accurate bot AI in a Desecrator. This Desecrator was at the normal spot for an AVT on MCP phase. Now, we were both making way to the first objective on the opposite wall in the village about 100 feet away. I come into its view first and it fires at me, but becuase of my speed (Knife was out), I unkowingly evaded it and it hit Chris and killed him (Becuase he was following straight behind me). Lol! A random Strogg bot with an Obliterator on Salvage was on top of one of the buildings on the first objective, jumps off the building, and immediately turns around and fires at the wall, killing himself. Would could he have possibly been firing at? When Chris and I were playing the demo online together, a bot named OMG H4X! would always see right through my Covert Ops disguise and proceed to obliterate me. On Salvage, there was a bot named Brandon, and he would always get a disguise. Not only was Chris his only victim, but Brandon backstabbed Chris 7-8 times! We now make fun of other bots who aren;t as good as Brandon. Various Salvage Husky runs, competing to get "Best Vehicles" by spawnkilling Stogg bots on the second objective. While going Field Ops/ Covert Ops on Volcano defending the first objective, a bot named Rix with an Obliterator got us every time he came for the Forward Bunker Door. We now make jokes about Strogg with Obliterators, and compare them to Rix. When goofing off on Island's final objective as GDF, Chris was in a Husky and went up the stairs behind the final objective. Becuase I knew he would be coming up that way, I got in an Armadillo and as soon as he came from the stairs, I rammed him at full speed right, causing his Husky to spin out in mid-air back down the stairs where an Oblitaggressor subsequently killed him. I remember him saying, "Well, I owe you for that death..." Practicing our "Tormentor Drops" on Quarry's final obective (Where, using a Tormentor, drop at the right time to land right in the plant point), I was flying too high and Chris jumped out way too late with the cell and ended up landing in the GDF base! Seeing GDF bots on Salvage's second objective yell "Enemy mine spotted!" and immediately run into said mine. Me attempting to backstab Chris several times throughout the game by sneakily switching sides (We were in party chat) and setting my Clan Tag as b0t (lol). I never backstabbed him. :P I'll edit when I think of more. There really is countless hilarious memories we have experienced throughout ETQW!

exactly how many people play the 360 version now? I want to keep tabs on numbers here. If it is greater than 16 total players in one region, then it's fine, but if it is less than that, I panic.

do they actually join the same server? Because if they aren't, there is no point in me coming back any time soon. I also will cancel my live account as well. It is not worth it to pay $60 dollars a year when I only go on live for like few months per year. Also my damn sister won't give me her wireless key.

How about when we were doing the final data disk transmission objective on island and I was driving you(XVI the Great) there in an Armadillo. I went around by the Strogg base, turned left and boosted right for the stairs. Thinking what you were about hitting the walls, and having no trust in my driving, you instinctively jump out only to watch me drive right between the walls and straight up the stairs right to the building without hitting ANYTHING! That was awesome!

Guess I'll have to hang out with BlackArze, mulaalien, cerwinwhatevernumbercomesafter, mojorisen and of course the PC gang, ok, maybe only the pc gang. To ask another question, what is the ratio of real human players to bots in any given match? On the PS3 it is typically average of 5 human players to 11 bots. The maximum human players I have seen is close to 8, and there is never a full house. Is there a full house, where it is all human players on each side? I would say its probably pretty close, most 360 games will have 4-6 humans or so. Once I have seen a full 16 player game, and I've seen quite a few 8-10 player games, but those are not too common. The problem is half the people are good players, and the other half are newbs who just got the game and have no clue what they are doing so its hard to have truly even teams, but me and XVI the Great(Formerly FatalkingX) always try to keep even teams if we have at least 4 human players, i,e, 2v2 or 3v3 and so on. Most people that would join after that are sometimes worse than bots so they dont affect the quality of that team.
What it really comes down to is not only the number of players, but the quality of company. Me and XVI have had our most memorable moments just us two. And while we do enjoy good competition, we can have just as much fun if not more by ourselves. So if your ever on the 360 and just want some good company to have fun with, just look us up! Another great moment was when we(myself and XVI) were playing salvage and we were defending the mining laser. I was defending while XVI had taken a Husky to splatter some bots. After probably a mintue somebody blasts him with an obliterator while I think something else exploded at the same time and XVI's body went probably 200 feet in the air! I watched his arrow go all the way up and fall all the way down! We laughed for the rest oif the night about that.

Also can't believe I forgot the Armadillo one on Island... That was great. Here's another one. It's like the Messin' with Sasquatch commercial where the guys are in the car and they ask the sasquatch if he needs a ride, and they take off a few feet whenever he got close. I had recently re-deployed from death on Salvage, and a bot beat me to the Husky. As I was getting to the Husky, the bot said, "Need a ride?" and as soon as I was at his bumper he zoomed off, only to stop a few feet farther down the road. It happened about two times after that! I think it was becuase I hit his Husky while running and didn't press Y (So maybe he thought I was trying to get around him). Nonethelss, hilarious!

Yeah, when you get your xbox back we need to play some serious Quake Wars!
How about when we started a game and we were focused on stats at the begginning. I think it was salvage, but I'm not sure. Next thing you know, they speedrush the first objective and get it done in about 1 minute. So we start saying we might need to play serious because there is like 24 minutes left and only two objectives. The second objective went quick too. Next thing you know, the bots have beat us in like 5-6 minutes! I remember saying "We just got steamrolled by bots!" Its games like that that will keep you humble. Good times!

c'mon, you know me, I play on all 3 versions, and since I don't have access to my 360, which version do you think I have been playing for the past few months?
Also my absence in the PC version was probably because I was playing a trivia game. And I don't mean that lame Buzz! or Scene it games. Those are for kids of today's generation. I mean the YDKJ series man. That series is what defines a trivia game. Soon, my xbox live account will expire, and I'm not going to renew it until I get a job, or at least get a professional job, and I can't afford to dick around anymore. The only time you will see me online is if you connect your xbox to mine directly. I will be shooting at walls and studying the map and looking for errors, easter eggs, or maybe admiring the graphics, or maybe comparing the 3 versions. BUT if xbox live were free, you will see me every day of the entire timespan, until my 360 dies, or gets smashed, like the original one I bought, hence why I'm hiding it at my sister's place in the school year. BUT the greatest moment I have been in, and probably fatalkingX or fretless weren't there because I bought the 360 version close to when it came out, I had an advantage because I knew the map, from playing the PC version for about half a year, and I knew the secrets. I also knew that it pisses me off that people use hammers or DMCs for the wrong purposes, such as to kill a lone sniper. So the greatest moment was long before FatalkingX got to play ETQW on the 360. On the 360 version of course, all bots and I on strogg, vs 6 human players including the host in the same clan, and 2 bots on GDF were playing on canyon. The Bridge and MCP defenses failed, but I let that one slide. Oh also, they set the timer to 30 minutes as opposed to the usual 20. So this means that defending is much harder. 20 minutes left and already at the shield gen stage. So I switch to constructor, spawned at the strogg base, and came in and attacked them from behind. As they were going over the hill to the shield gen, I had map knowledge, and knew that they didn't know about alternate routes, since they were new to the game at the time. With said hog, I went to where the MCP was, rammed all their hammer launchers, 2 to be exact, repaired hog, and they were camping like in the hill area ready to attack the shield generator. They didn't know the incoming threat behind them, and I ran them over, looped around and ran them over again for like 15 whole minutes, when it was 5 minutes left when they won the match when there was 2 minutes left. A solid 28 minute defense with just me, and all bots, vs a whole coordinated clan. Well considering that amazing defense, I don't think that clan was coordinated, but whatever. Now in the end. I checked the end game standings. I got best vehicles, and most damage, and most kills. I then got kicked after that. It just proves that they respected my ownage, and my hogging skills. Note, also there were AITs, and APTs around, but no AVTs. I was snickering at them, because it was like half a month after release when this situation happened. And throughout the 15 minutes of my hogging spree, we didn't even have an oppressor on our team, and even if we did, the bot who was the oppressor never fired a single shot of artillery, maybe the AIT was there, but still it was funny to get kicked because I was running over defenseless GDF. Awesome moment today: Chris was goofing off in a Hog (Slipgate defense) running over bots and two great things happened:
He got a Killtacular splatter in a single second- five bots were cloesly clustered and all got wiped out. Also... He chased a bot up the hill next to their first forward spawn and ran him over, but plummeted off the hill and get this... His vehicle exploded from fall damage. Has this ever happened to anyone before? This is the first time I've seen it happen. Well, heard... My perspective: I watched him go up the hill, saw Fretless Arcade [Hog] bot Then heard a BLAM! And saw [Hog] Fretless Arcade ... rofl, he must've landed sideways or something!

Ok ok ok, Mr. Stroggifier, or BlackArze and I were playing on refinery. We shutdown the GDF. In the end I was bored, so I decided to play with the game's physics. I went on a cyclops, and tried to push the disabled MCP back into the GDF base. I only got a few meters though.
But I'm sorry to PC and 360 players, the pushing of the MCP with the cyclops is only available in the PS3 version as I can't seem to push the MCP in the PC version, and it is safe to conclude that you can't push the MCP with a cyclops in the 360 version. In the PC and 360 version, you CAN push the MCP sideways though, but once you try to tip it over, your Cyclops gets trashed. Last edited by signofzeta : 10-31-2009 at 10:54 PM. |

Here's two great ones I also forgot:
Island Defense, second objective. Emanon is the GDF field ops. He has deployed a hammer. He launches it, and manages to kill only himself with it. I remember saying, "good job, Emanon..." Well, this happens SIX Times. Yep, you read right, he committed suicide six times with the hammer! This isn't some idiot player: This is a bot! Chris's and I line was: "Whoops, there goes Emanon" every time we saw "Hammer Launched!". Quarry Defense, camping first objective forward spawn. It was going well and a GDF Engiqueer Wolfgang (Which is what Chris and I call Engineers lolol) had stayed at the forward spawn to continbually camp it with us. I had kept him alive through my typical medic business, yet Chris (Field Ops at the time) never gave him ammo. Well, WolfGang was at the forward spawn so long he ran out of bullets. So he pulled out his knife! It was one of the funniest things a bot could do, considering how a non-covert was stabbing Strogg! I remmeber barking at Chris telling him not to give Wolfgang ammo- and Wolfgang managed to even get off a couple of [Knife] kills!

I love the time where we joined a game with about 4 other players who were all Supreme Commanders. Me and XVI decided to take them on when we started a new game. So its 2v4 with bots and we go on offense on Canyon against them. We speedrun it and win the game in less than 7 minutes! Then we took on the same group on Sewer. We were on defense going against 4 very good, active, and coordinated Supreme Commanders and we hold them off for somwhere around 24-25 minutes! This was pretty early on in our Quake Wars careers so we were extatic. Not a funny memory, but one that still stands out.
There were also these two kids who joined our game with ODST as their clan tag and we wanted to take them on 2v2 with bots. We switch it to Island stopwatch on 15 or 20 minutes. After they were losing for 12-14 minutes they switch to our team and start complaining about how we cut down the time when we put them on offense. They were obviously newbs who had no concept of what Stopwatch was. From then on we reffered to them as the "ODST kids." Lets also not forget Rix the bot Soldier who completely destroyed us whenever he had that Rocket Launcher!

Heh heh heh, just joined a game where I failed defense 'cause it was 6v6 second objective, then host put ME on offense. ME!!! They stacked in a 6v6 game to 8v1, and I showed them where the Fair, the Legitimate, and the Fun take their territory and skill. Game over in seven minutes on the Ark.
Edit: Proudly set my clan tag back to FLF after that game ![]()

We were playing Slipgate defense and this kid joined the GDF offense. He obviously loved to drive vehicles because thats about all he did. I was splattering people with my hog when I spotted him in an Armadillo. When I went to splatter him, he turned right and went straight up the cliff. What else would I do? I follow him. So I chased right behind him straight up at about 2 MPH and finally caught up and killed him at the slowest speed I've ever seen anyone killed at!

Today I saw a human player join my game and be my damage absorber. I was in a Husky on Canyon's hack objective, and an AVT fired on me. I was steering out of the way to miss this guy in front of me, but the AVT missile hit him and he took the death for me! That's the first time I've ever seen a ground unit die from an Anti VEHICLE turret!
Later, he managed to absorb a grenade too for Chris I think ^.^
