Yep, just Just like Battlefield 2 and COD4 did

Was watching a developer vid on details from bad Company 2, they look to have detailed stats at the end of each round, but from what i saw they were private.

I like my idea of giving the user all the stats they could hope for in a format they can manipulate, create their own graphs, their own database, etc. That way they can make clan stats or whatever they want, but since the info can be manipulated and not public (unless the player chooses to make its ss) it decreases the incentive to statpad.

Something to keep in mind is not just the obvious stat padders, it's the more subtle aspects of having a public leaderboard system affect the way players play the game who might not otherwise try and pad their stats. If they know everyone is going to see their kill/death ratio they might play completely differently (doing fewer objectives because you die so much doing them is a good example). If the stats were not public by default, then those players wouldn't feel the pressure to play differently.

1. Give players lots of stats they can play with, makes them happy.
2. Give it to them in an easily manipulated format, preferably more than one (CSV and XML for instance).
3. Make it so players can easily create their own leaderboards (easily done if number 2 is done). This lets players "opt in" on any leaderboard they are a part of, and means there's a high level of trust amongst everyone int he same leaderboards because the stats are essentially being sent from the players. This is probably a thorny issue because some guys will still cheat, but it would hopefully eliminates the pure stat padding behaviours we've all seen becaue someone will catch you at it and eject you from the leaderboard you were a part of and stat padding in the first place.

If you don't want your stats public, you just don't join any leaderboards, but you still have them to play with all you want.

People could still build sites where they've made custom charts and things where players can upload their own stats to see them in chart format, but have it private to the player as an option.

You're right Cankor, I stand corrected. It's just the defence team get an extra bonus for holding the last objective. Which means Pipboys idea was a good suggestion and perhaps it could be extended to other main objectives on map.

I could certainly live with something like that. It's similar to the idea behind your bestmedic site and I enjoyed using that.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I don't have many hope for that.

I don't know, but I think all these awards, stats, leaderboards etc. are also way to draw people to a game and you can't just ignore that aspect. Not everyone is gonna be good and by giving them awards/ranks and leader boards, you can give those players the feeling they actually achieved something and they'll keep playing the game. I guess marketing departments love that kind of thing.
