Heya,
It looks like a lot of people are getting crashes in tmlsp.dll (specifically version 3.1.0.1013). This dll belongs to the Trend Micro virus scanner, which also appears to ship with Dell machines. (For people that are interested, it looks like the crash is the result of a recvfrom call.) Anyway, if you are experiencing random (or maybe not so random) crashes and you do have this virus scanner installed, try to disable it and see if you still get issues. Also, please post in this thread so we can get a better idea of the scale of the problem and let the right people know. |

Found this post by Desolator in the Beta Archives....
http://community.enemyterritory.com/...d.php?p=114990 He found that using a little program called WINSOCKXPFIX fixed this .dll issue. To my knowledge it only works on XP machines; as for Vista I'm unaware as to it's effectiveness. I had the exact problem it seems many are faced with and used this program to fix my registry and all is good. No need to uninstall Trend Micro. You'll want to back-up your registry before running this program and neither myself ,and on his behalf, nor is Desolator, responsible for any malfunctions in part by using this unofficial fix. You can find the program through below link http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html Hopefully this helps and happy fraggin' ![]() Last edited by SanDchEz : 10-09-2007 at 12:02 AM. |

Just FWIW, I've heard of people having problems with several antivirus programs, even when they are allegedly disabled. http://www.prevx.com/ was one.

after my bullgard/steelsecurity excursion, i tried the trend micro internet security. no probs with etqw.
but i think any other "free" security software will do the same job without taking so much system resources... btw: no probs with avast 4 and avira antivir pe |

I've got SteelSecurity/Bullguard looking into things (we replicated the issue here). The Trend Micro version I posted here definitely causes crashes, I've got evidence of that in our crash report database.

I have Trend Micro Antivirus 2007 and it seems to crash ETQW for me too. I can play single player mode fine, but as soon as I try to create an online account and access the Internet, Windows alerts me that the file etqw.exe has encountered an error and must close. Even when I supposedly disable Trend Micro, this happens. I would really prefer not to uninstall Trend Micro and have no AV software just so I can play online. I hope there's a fix for this sometime soon.

PinkFreud: I suggest you contact Trend Micro support and ask for a fix. I've got enough crash reports in our database to provide proof it is their software crashing things.

RR2DO2, what was the filename causing the crash? maybe the .dll is removeable with hijackthis like it works for BG/SS?

See my first post, filename and version are in there. It looks like a quite important part of the virus scanner though. I wouldn't remove it on its own.

I raised the issue with Trend Micro Support who upgraded my antivirus to the 2008 version.
It worked fine for me after that but if it doesn't for you, you can now set an exclusion on files and folders. In the Virus & Spyware controls if you expand the Protection Against Viruses & Spyware. Then click on settings and then click on Advanced Settings. Then on the line that says "Ignore specific files and folders" click on select and add in the quake wars to it. You might be able to get an upgrade to the 2008 version if you have a valid current license with Trend Micro. Otherwise you might have to renew or look at different sources. |

I'm having the EXACT same problem PinkFreud is. TM '07 has no "exceptions" programming so I'm stuck in the rather bland single player "campaign" mode.
Frenzied: did trend micro make you pay for the upgrade or was it complimentary? |

It was a complimentary upgrade when I sent in a crash report they wanted to have a look at.
So if you currently have a valid license with them if u go through the things the require then they should give you the upgrade to. |
