Default How to kill the Cyclops

i've seen several people having problems with the strength of the cyclops. you can attack it in several ways, e. g. with the rocket launcher, the titan tank, an airstrike, etc. but i've found it the most efficient way if you attack it with the GDF Fieldops's rocket artillery: deploy a rocket artillery, use the targeting tool and aim at the Cyclops. the lock-on icon will appear and after a few seconds the Cyclops is no more

I've used the rocket artillery. It didn't work well on the cyclops. It was much better against the tank and tormentor.

what exactly didn't work? was the cyclops behind walls or did the strogg have a shield? usually the rocket artillery brings it down, at least for me.

Maybe they didn't all hit. I haven't tried it much. I thought it only took its armor down about 40%. I might be wrong.

If you get a lock with the rocket launcher, its game over for the cyclops. As joe said it just takes a couple of seconds and it will lock, works on all vehicles.

Which vehicles have defense for this besides the cyclops?

Nevermind, I just read the newbie guide Ifurita posted, good stuff!

Keep in mind when using artillery and hammers that strogg anti-artillery turrets will take them out without any notification for the fops. You have to look and listen for hits to know if they are striking anything.

Also as an engi if you sneak up on one kneeling down you can plant anti-vehicle mines directly on it BOOM ! !

Oh, very nice.

How long do the emp grenades work on them? Might not take it down, but would let the rest do their work.

emp grenade works 30 seconds afaik. it can't move it's feet, but it can still move the turret and fire.

another fun thing is when a soldier plants an HE charge at it. 30 seconds later it collapses like a cardhouse

You know if you are skilled in movement, a cyclops can't see people underneath it, and if you are skilled in dodging it's legs, you can use a medic to shock it to death. Takes a lot of time, but I'm sure it works.

Basic point is Cyclops blind spot is underneath it.

Tank, you have the advantage of speed over Cyclop, even if Cyclop fires faster. Positioning is key here, and move, fire and then move. Cyclops isn't that fast mover.

Get behind a camping Cyclops as Engineer, throw 3 mines under it (unarmed) and then throw a grenade on those mines. Doesn't kill the Cyclops but it hurts it a lot. With some help from teammates it'll be down very quick (1-2 grenades).

If you are attacking a cyclops or other heavy armor with a rocket launcher (the soldier weapon, not the fieldops rocket artillery), it is best NOT to lock your rocket. Just figure out the lead and elevation yourself, and dumbfire.

A cyclops pilot who is on top of things can decoy every rocket you fire, if you lock. Same goes for the titan.

About the only thing I find worth locking on is the tormentor, since it's very hard to hit with dumbfire. You can lock on turrets, but they hold still so they are good elevation practice.

edit:
also, if you are pinned by heavy armor, don't be afraid to suicide rush. If a whole spawn of your team puts nades on it, it will be dead.

3 mines, 2 grenades, 2 grenade launcher shots and 3 pistol shots. I guess the Cyclops would be down faster if the 2nd grenade would be a direct hit.

Also if you've got big brass ones the size of grapefruits you can run up on it and plant an HE charge. I do this to titan tanks that are artillery sniping from the hills all the time as strogg.

This only works because very few people know that hitting jump in a Cyclops will smoosh anyone at your feet.

It's a shame not many people know about this, because it's hilariously useful. Whenever I see a group of infantry just hanging out trying to take me down with their rifles I always rush up to them and spam the space key. The most I've gotten so far was 4 poor saps stuck to the bottom of my feet.

I have to admit that rocket artillary is the most effective but im pretty sure decoys are the key to surviveing it if you time it right.

There are many skilled cyclops drivers that can rack up the kills easily if you know some good places to go.
