Default Context Menu

Can't say enough good things about the Context menu, people: it's bound to keyboard V by default, and lets you report the position and unit type of every enemy you spot. Very very useful for warning your teammates about lurking turrets and heavy armour. Absolutely vital for warning your Field Ops/Oppressors about enemy Artillery Interceptor turrets.

The Context meny is also the only way you'll be able to use your Vehicle Drops XP reward so find it and use it.

Try it out, and tell us what you think of it on the feedback forum: http://www.forumplanet.com/QuakeWars/index.asp

Spotting deployables also pushes them into the Tasks system

I use it all the time, but I switched it to my middle mouse button, and put the chatmenu on V. This way I just middle mouse and fire to say "Whats under my Xhair Spotted" instead of taking my eyes off the screen to hit V1 (which is the default way to spot).

I never use chatmenu things like "I need a medic" or "I need repairs" because I'm used to the context menu now. Really a nice addition.

My artillary is being annulled by the enemies defences.
So i try and create a sub mission by spotting an enemy Anti-Artillary
and calling it via the context menu.
Cant seem to get it to work. i think it worked once, not sure.
are there any rules governing this like must i be looking directly at it at the same time as calling it. and does the AA then become highlighted on the map.

*ok sussed it now
Hover binoculars over target - press v - select target option turns white - Press fire
v -> context menu -> select target (1) centre of HUD = creates sub-mission

i was confusing it with mouse 3 chat menu because they were also in there but no effect.

Attack Target -> Sub-Mission

The only 2 things I don't like about it is that it 'sticks' and it moves your field of view when you select different options. When you display the context menu, you press v and it is there until you press v again. This can be very fustrating when you're in a balls out firefight. The context menu should only show when you are holding down v. I also don't like how your field of view moves when you are trying to select an option. If you've played BF2 (oh God, not that word) then you'd know what I'm talking about.

I believe you can also set the amount of mouse sensitivity to selecting context options from within the UI

Is it possible to improve the QuickChat (Default: Mouse3) menu in the retail product? As of right now I find it a bit difficult to say simple yet important commands like "Defend Objective" or "Enemy in Disguise" because I always find myself looking at the keyboard and it distracts me from the gameplay. I loved the old Wolf ET system where the most important commands where grouped together under the 1-2-3-4 keys for easy access and communication.

Have no qualms about Context Menu, other than that I wish it was player-customizable so I can add/remove voice commands to the menu as I see fit.

You don't have to use the numbers mate, move your mouse around and select the one you want. Try it, you get the hang of doing it on the run pretty quick.

There are alot of chats to memorize which can take a while to get used to. I simply bind common things I need alot to 1 key like "Enemy disquised as me!".

Code:
bind "6" "clientquickchat quickchat/self/disguise/enemydisguisedasme" "" "default"

Just to clear something up, would I be right by saying that I have to be a team leader to create sub-missions via the context menu.

And it would be nice that after someone spots something that it actually appears on the command map. In red preferably with initials. Otherwise spotting becomes meaningless except for the person who spotted it.

Another example if there are 2 APTs and one is spotted as given trouble.
Then I know which one to prioritise as a target.

Love the feature, it's great for support players. Fire teams helping other fire-teams.

my only complaint is that the mouse is way too sensitive for the middle selections on the right side and left side..

moving your mouse to any of the corners is fine and easy.. but trying to select that middle "thanks" or "no" is almost impossible.. keeps moving over it..

I'm sorry guys, but I really can't stand the V-key menu as it stands right now... it never seems to have the thing I want in the centre... namely, an easy way to spot whatever I'm looking at.

Now, I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I hate comparing this game to the BF series... but seriously, I think BF2/2142 had it right with the big freakin "Spotted" button in the middle of the commo-rose that would spot whatever was under your crosshair at the time.

I can do that in one key press and one mouse click, and keep running at the same time.

In ETQW, I have to stop and find the menu (mouse3) because the V key menu only has the waypoint thing / or a grey box in the middle of it whenever I go to use it. Drives me nuts!

Don't know what game you are playing, but the 'spotted' function is in the center of the context menu (commo rose). Exactly the same as BF's implementation, but cant be used to spot things very far away.

I bound my context menu to the Middle Mouse button, which in effect makes it work exactly like BF2. My chatmenu is on V. I just hit Middle Mouse then fire to say 'Whatever I'm looking at Spotted'. Easier than hitting V1 (default), because I never take my eyes off the screen or my aiming.

What I personally miss about this context menu is a 'Sorry' item, so I can spam "I'm sorry" like a mofo after some braindead moron decided to pick flowers right below my cyclops, confused my rail howitzer barrage with free candy or was just so busy squaredancing that he took half of the shots that were aimed at the enemy's head.

Yeah, a sorry is the only thing I seem to be needing on the context menu.

My problem with the context menu:

Setting it so the mouse doesn't move the screen when you're selecting makes it a whole lot easier, but will make it so it doesn't move with regular v-says up either. bummer.
