Default Canadian and US pennies.

How many of you Canadians and Americans think that the copper coloured coin in your wallet is a piece of crap?

From what I have heard, the raw materials to make a penny costs more than one cent.

Pennies suck so much that every time I try to pay for something, I use pennies just to get rid of them, because it bulges my wallet, and it is too cumbersome.

I usually toss them in the "need a penny? take a penny." tins on the counter.
At times I forget and some end up making it home to the penny jar. (don't want to mix them with the silver coins).
I've had it in the back of my mind to bring the jar with when the wife and I dine out. In case the service is crappy, I'd leave it as a tip. good riddance!

On another note, if I notice 1 in my hand after a purchase, I toss it on the sidewalk for those superstitious folks. 50/50

Ged rid of pennies? toss them out? NAH!!, I do magic with them, it's a trick I learned when I was a kid, you gather 100 pennies and turn them into a DOLLAR

Hey Nail, that's very cool of you.

Lol, there is this myth that if you put in 300 bucks worth of pennies into a jar, it would take so much effort to lift it. Oh yeah, there would be a chance that the jar would break too.

Well it does make great flooring though.

As the GDF commander says, HAVE YOU ANY IDEA HOW MUCH THAT FLOOR COSTS?

I rember we had two 12 liter botles of 1ps and 2ps (british) that we had picked up over the years. They did weigh a hell of a lot. One day Picked both bottles up and the just gently touched each other and one of them just smashes to pieces. Altogether we had £20 worth of 1ps and £40 of 2ps
Took them to the bank to have them changed into notes. They werent to happy. But the 2ps came in useful when we go on hols to the beach and go to the arcades WOOO 2p machines

Virtually every purchase nowadays, I do with some form of plastic. (debit, credit). I really don't see much change anymore. Kind of funny actually. Between direct deposited paychecks and electronic payments, I rarely see cash of any form. My employer puts it in, my creditors take it out, everybody's happy.

A while back (5-6 years), I took a few years worth of change to a Coinstar. It's a machine that let's you dump unsorted change into it, and get folding money. For a small percentage. I walked out with around 90 dollars. It's going to take a long time to get the jar that full again.
