I'm not usually one to make the funny images, but I'm so self-impressed with my promotional abilities, I felt I just had to share:
![]() For those who haven't been casually following some of the silliness going on with this game, here's a sample: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2...ou-thought.ars

Why not drop pc support too? Surely the $$$ comes from consoles so why invest on pc gaming when you wont get anything from the sales there.
At least all is not lost, Brink exists.

If that's what IW is doing with MW II, and what id is going to do with rage, then I'm afraid we won't be staying for dessert.
Wolfenstein sucking with lack of system link and lan play for consoles is just the tip of the iceberg. Oh well, think of this as an omen. Brink will have a huge influx of players. Oh yeah, how the hell do you balance lean? It is either you have it or you don't. There is no such thing as balancing lean. If you want to do lean, do it like ET. You can see them, but they can't see you, nor can you shoot. But isn't doing this multiplayer thing through the IWnet similar to Blizzard's Battle.net, and the same strategy on how Blizzard does the WoW servers? Uh oh, watch out for $15 a month just to play MP on the next CoD game. Last edited by signofzeta : 11-06-2009 at 05:12 PM. |

Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of Rage, and likely won't be bothering with it. Racing-oriented games do not appeal to me.
I don't think they're entirely doing the same thing, although it's a bit nitpicky in wordage... eg: COD:MW2 is eliminating dedicated servers and forcing p2p networking upon players. It's possible to eliminate dedicated player-controlled servers and still provide official dedicated servers. Like, for example, Quake Live does. To me, that's a lot less objectionable. (It's still pretty crappy, but well, if you don't have mod support in your game(which is a whole other bit of failure), there's no major downside to doing it that way afaik? There's tradeoffs, largely in the ease of use and availability categories, at the cost of control and potentially per-month rental fees.) p2p with or without host migration is just a ridiculous model to base the networking of an FPS game off of though. lol @ whiteaden

P2P is only for sports and RTS games, where you get one guy, and another guy to play against each other. When you have more than 2 players, P2P does not really work anymore. I never liked the P2P setup in ETQW on the 360 because you can't really pick and choose which server you want to go to.
Whiteaden's pic is epic win. I guess if they want it their way, I'm afraid we'll have to pick the highway. |

??? I don't see the big deal. Every last multiplayer call of duty game of the last couple of years had as much depth as the average game of tetris (maybe even less). I'll just download CoD4 II and play the single player campaign and stick it to the capitalist system as I go along

I know every new CoD is even shallower than the previous... everybody spoke so highly of it when it was released... if they just didn't say ANYTHING about the shit they done to it, and just showed the gameplay videos and released it... everyone would've bought it, and paid full price... lol but they ****ed up ![]()

some of us hate sp and stupid ai players...
pretty bad when you get raped by ea/dice, i hope carmack reads this and realizes people will say the same about rage if they go through with that decision... http://boards.ign.com/pc_general_boa...76/r186125372/

EA tends to make unfinished games and fixes them later, and Activision tends to make good games and rip off their customers with high prices, and with stupid features added in, or cool features taken out.
Which game are you into? MW2 or BC2? |

since i don't play sp, and p2p servers always fail, i suppose BC2 until the next great thing comes out, cod isn't a very impressive game imho anyway (not saying anything battlefield is but at least there will be dedicated servers)

Lets not forget brink, at least the devs are listening to gamers, not like IW and id(They should've learned that lesson with Wolfenstein, but guess not) are doing.

Wasn't it again Activision that killed wolf?

I'm not sure who killed wolf, and who gave IW the bright ideas to have on dedicated servers and no lean. But considering they are both published by activision, is it an Activision executive telling them what to do or else they get fired, or is it that bad Activision curse that some executive at activision got, that spreads to game designers to give them bad ideas?
You decide. |
