Question Second Cyclops?

I preface everything I say by admitting that I am an uber n00b at this game, but I'm trying to make the transition from BF2 and CSS, so bear with me here.

I was goofing around in an empty server playing with my graphic settings and noticed that the Strogg start off with two Cyclops and two Desecrators - one each at the spillway spawn and one each back by the 'hub'. So far (granted, only about 8 hours of gameplay under my belt) I had never seen anyone grab the 'rear' armor. I thought to myself what a difference it could make for the Strogg if they had TWO Cyclops defending the EMP.

Well, long story short, it makes a pretty big difference. Strogg defended the EMP all three games I played tonight. One of the 'clops can just find a nice cozy spot and pop up behind cover to pin the Titan in the base while the other one works it's magic at the EMP or at the hilltop spawn.

Is it 'bad form' to go back there and grab the other stuff or what? I saw the stats about the dev's being 'surprised' that the GDF had won so many times - perhaps this is one of the reasons?

Again, uber n00b here. Maybe it's 'bad form' to play as I did?

Thoughts?

Edit: Quote from badman's blog entry:

Another interesting statistic is that out of 30,552 rounds played as of yesterday morning, the GDF managed to free the sewer system 18,259 times - though we expect that ratio to even out as players get used to the different gameplay mechanics offered by the Strogg side and the game has more balance and polish applied based on your feedback.

Yeah it does make a big difference. The extra hog is killer too.

From my experience strogg only lose when the majority of the team is deathmatching at the GDF spawn. I think out of the hunderds of games I've played so far the number of games that had serious strogg defenders and was still won by gdf is something around five.

I don't know if its because of the vehicles sitting at spawn when you need to move inside or if its because the only "mission" selectable is to try and retake the gdf spawn, but a scary amount of strogg players don't have a clue how to combat the last objective and infact appear to go out of their way to avoid it.

I always spawn there.

Initially to ensure I get an Icarus to fly (because there are only three at the forward spawn, and they are often snatched up in seconds), and because you can actually get to the front line first if you ski right through the spillway area (or at least at the exact same time as the other jetpackers). Normally, If the Tormentor hasn't been taken once I've laid mines and a turret I'll fly up and take it, otherwise I will grab this aforementioned second Cyclops.

And yes, it can DEFINITELY help having two up there...as long as you keep the Titan tank suppressed if its bombarding you, and an Interceptor Turret to keep those pesky Hammer missiles from ripping you a new one.

Strogg can't loose if the defending team know what they are doing and the attackers aren't that good. Get all the armor and just camp the EMP...the GDF will never build it.

OP, I fell back to the spillway, from the forward spawn, and was also suprised to see extra equipment available to the Strogg for the first time playing.
It seems on one hand it is a bit unfair the GFD dose not have extra the equipment too, on the other, its just smart game play if it is there and the Strogg can use it to their advantage go ahead and use it. I do, and will continue to unless it changes.
Although it can be a disadvantage to the Stogg by if too many are falling back there to the spillway to find stuff, the more Strogg falling back there and not defending the EMP, the more likely the EMP will be captured quicker by the GDF. Iv'e seen that happen in a few rounds.
So maybe use it, but use it sparingly, knowing where and how many of your teamates are up front defending the EMP before moving to far back yourself.???

Did you know that you can just spawn there? With the exception of the cyclops those vehicles will get you back to the field in good time.

the thing is, one titan can easily kill two cyclops if the tanker is good.

Yeah the titan's rocket has more of a dip than the cyclops so can actually take both of them out without being seen. Once GDF take the EMP spawn they then have 2 titans aswell and the spawncamping favor is returned.

If both of the Cyclops' go into siege mode there is no way in hell one Titan can beat them unless they are blind monkeys. The DOT is way to fast for the Titan to keep up...even if he is shifting behind cover and an excellent driver.

The problem is many people still don't know how to get the Cyclops into the high rate of fire mode and try to outmanuver the tank. Sometimes this can work but the bulk of the time it doesn't since the Titan will have the advantage on both DOT and speed.
